Feeling Reflective

Now that the hustle and bustle of Easter has subsided, I am reflecting on how awesome my life is. I still cannot believe I have this amazing little girl in my life.

The cherry on top of that, I have my lovely hubby, my incredible parents, Bobbie & Maria, my awesome bestie, Aimee, wonderful Godparents, Leslie & Stephen…so many rad friends and family are an important part of my life, I am overwhelmed with emotion. Everyone is healthy, doing well and is happy. Wow, I am a lucky girl. I am feeling thankful for all I have. Thank you to my lovely readers. Whatever you may take from this blog, I appreciate you taking time to smile, laugh or even roll your eyes at my antics. I remember starting this blog and feeling so lost, like a part of me was missing. Olivia has over-filled that yearn I had in heart. Things feel so simple and less complicated with her. I never knew I could take on the challenge of raising a child. It isn’t always easy, but being with her as a family feels extraordinary. It really does take a village, I have such a strong support system, I couldn’t do it alone. I could easily freeze time and keep her this age. She’s so much fun, so curious, fearless and also mischievous. Thank you Liv for being such a wonderful daughter. I love you blissfully. Thank you to Anthony, for being such a supportive husband. You inspire me everyday, you are the perfect example of a great Dad and I feel incredibly loved by you. Thank you to my Moms, Bobbie & Maria, you both are such marvelous Grandma and Grammy to Liv. Thanks for your unlimited babysitting, and knowing just the right amount of advice to give us! Aimee, thank you for being a stellar BFF & Godmommy. I couldn’t ask for a better mentor for Liv and I am grateful for our friendship which expands to family. Thank you Padrinos. You guys are so amazing, I felt so happy and right at home to be apart of your family celebration. We feel so fortunate to have you guys as family. I’m sounding pretty sappy, but I just am filled with love and grace.

Thank you

More Easter Baby

Just got home from a fun, fantastic Easter Sunday. We went to Stephen & Les’s party, then delivered a Sprinkles cupcake to Aimee at her job. On the ride home we picked up some Tandoori chicken from an Indian restaurant on the Westside *the same chicken I acted a fool over at Trevor & Jessica’s engagement party* Dammmnnn, I don’t know what they do to this chicken but it is incredible. I absolutely think this is my new fave meal, ever! It’s a good thing this spot is way on the other side of town cause I would eat there everyday. Enough about my delish dinner, smack, smack,  Let’s get down to Olivia..Nina Leslie is a sly one, she spied on my Etsy wishlist and bought Liv this adorable dress. I am so stoked about her foxy dress and her Easter basket!

Somebody is too cute!

Love this dress!!!

Hi Godmommy

Cute haircut, my love!
My bestie is so rad!

We witnessed a phenomenon when we got home. Liv said to us “Night night” and ran off to bed all by herself. Whaaat?? She was partied out. We are too, Night night!!

Easter Baby

Liv had her easter egg hunt this morning in the backyard. She looks adorable in her dress from her Grammy but she insisted on wearing that hat.

Happy Easter!!

Her post photo shoot outfit!

Our egg coloring…not as easy as it looks. I was trying to make these ombre eggs but I ran into trouble *I knew I should have order the McCormick neon dye* but Martha to the rescue, I used some glitter and thread and voila!!

I’ll upload more photos when we return to Liv’s Godparents Easter egg hunt…taa-tah!

¡Hola Tia!

Olivia met her Aunt Leoni and cousin Hector for the first time, who are in town visiting Antz Mommy from Mexico . We took them on a day tour of the city, Chinatown, Olvera Street *Antz Mom’s favorite* and the Griffith Observatory. We had a great time although it was a hot day and very crowded *but we were at tourist spots*

Wishing fountain

Liv rode every ride in this square, she thought we were at Disneyland

She totally hitched a free ride with this little girl, the girl was giving her a look like, you didn’t put a quarter in!

Los Strawberrios del Shortcakes?
I kinda wish I bought this awesome mask!

This kid loves to run!

Fun Times!

J’adore Paris

I am dreaming, wishing and hoping that around this time in 2 years, we will be getting ready to leave for our trip to Paris. My friends Mia & Parisienne just arrived in Paris today and boy, do I wish I was there with them. I have been working meticulously on our itinerary, adding new sights and shops to our already full days and over tight budget. My biggest indulgence is somehow squeezing in something within my price range from the Chanel store in Place Vendôme. Last time we were in Paris, Aimee went shopping there for her sisters while Antz & I sat in the lounge drinking wine feeling like royalty in our flip flops and shorts. This time around, I’d like to present myself in more of a Parisian style and possibly make a purchase that I could pass down to Olivia as an heirloom *there’s no way I could afford a bag, but maybe a scarf or a pen?*

Aimee & Me looking trendy in 2003

I also have some shopping to do at Bonton for Olivia *my jaw hit the floor when I saw how adorable the kids clothes are, also expensive* and Merci for our house. Sounds awesome in theory but with my overly-ambitious itinerary and pricey hotels, I’ll be lucky if I can afford a postcard from any shops. I am hoping to find treasure *as well as bargains* at the flea market but I hear shipping furniture to the US costs a fortune and you have to be the first costumer of the day to score a great deal. I will have my eye out for some artwork, table linens, French albums and vintage jewelry…Maybe I’ll find a rad Cameroon Juju hat!

So darn cute

There’s so much on my things to do, eat and buy list, it’s overwhelming. Since I came to my senses and realized we can’t afford to stay at the W Paris Opera for 3 nights, I have found a perfect hotel alternative which is affordable yet magnificent. The Hotel Gabriel is where Bri & Jen stayed last month and reading this post pretty much convinced me to book it for 3 nights and when we return from our Helsinki day trip with Aura, we’ll spend one night at the W *so I can cross it off my list* and it’s works out better financially, win-win!

So here’s the story behind the dancing ladies: The Gabriel is the first hotel in the world to offer the NightCove sleep companion in some rooms, which was developed in collaboration with designer Patrick Jouin and Professor Damien Léger, an expert in sleep problems. Guests benefit from sleep and wake-up programmes, or nap programmes, consisting of ambient music and lighting.

So worth the 1 night stay!!

I’m still not having any luck finding the perfect flight from CDG to Helsinki, Finland. Lufthansa so far is the cheapest but the layover in Munich is no bueno and the late arrival at 11:15 pm isn’t working for us either. Air France has a nonstop flight earlier arriving at 9pm but $1600?! Are they smoking crack, oh wait, yes they are! I’m sure I’ll figure it out. I was bummed that we can’t just take a train there but 23 hours and 3 ferries doesn’t sound so fun. Now that I’m researching more about Helsinki, I am finding it such a sin to be so close to St. Petersburg and not check it out but I’ll have to save it for another trip. I have a feeling that I’m cramming too much into this trip and we’ll end up napping in the hotel all day *my favorite thing to do on vacation* Did I mention we are going to the Cirque d’hiver de Paris?

Mesmerizing and simultaneously creepy!

Bon Nuit!

Happy April Fools Day

Don’t worry I’m not going to trick anyone with a false pregnancy or claim to have won the jackpot *stupid Mega Millions* Instead I have great news, my lovely hubby cleaned out the garage today. He made it so wonderful in there I no longer get the heebee geebees in there. He also got rid of our old broken umbrella and hammock.

Yippee, reason #1,474,829 Antz rules! Thank you my love. Thanks again to Liv’s Padrinos for the awesome Foxy dress!!

Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards 2012

I’m tired and Bridesmaids is on so let me be quick. The KCA’s were fun. I successfully snuck my Nikon camera in after four years of trying *high five to me* and we sat with Mos Les and her cute niece, Ellie. Let me tell you, the ringing in my ears is pretty much permanent thanks to the shrieking every time they said Taylor Lautner or Big Time Rush. Why aren’t there awesome boy bands like NKOTB and Kriss Kross like we used to have? Oh man, Please Don’t Go, Girl was the absolute shit!!

As you can see the venue is enormous, we sat pretty much in the same area as last year
Hosted by Will Smith
The Black Eye Peas
Katy Perry was suspended in front of us for like 10 minutes, she said Hi!
First Lady Michelle Obama
Taylor Swifty, totally doing her shocked/flabbergasted face

Nighty nights!

What’s Happening Highland Park?

This morning we checked out Milton to find that he is tucked away, nice and cozy in his new lovely cocoon. He is definitely in Chrysalis stage. Which means we need to upgrade his accommodations so when he turns into a butterfly, he has room for those pretty wings. It’s crazy how much he’s grown in 2 weeks!

Milt’s cocoon has iridescent flakes of gold, fancy!
You can see his old skin he recently shed

So we went out to find a container/mansion for Milt to move in to. On our way home we stopped to check out the new Highland Cafe that opened on York. It is super cute! They were giving out complimentary cookies and coffee. They officially open on Monday. I’m so stoked about our neighborhood.

Coming soon, Pop Hop

I love this building

Free treats!!!

I love the decor, Lucha wrestling masks!

Popped into The York

Best creepy mannequin ever

We were peeking into Ba and now there have tables and chairs, opening soon I hope
We want to try lunch here one day

They fucking rule at rad fonts!

Manicure battle

They didn’t have any Peter Pan balloons so we settled for Tink

We are so happy happy!!

Here’s a great article about Hip Highland Park by the LA Times. We have to give this place, Good Girl Dinette, a try, it looks so cute and delish!
