White chocolate chip goodness

I was so bummed about my strawberry pie massacre, I wasn’t planning on baking anytime soon. However, this morning I had the craving of white chocolate *my favorite*. Now I know white chocolate chip cookies usually have macadamia nuts in them but I don’t particularly like them. So I had to take matters into my own hands and I got baking. Totally expecting a kitchen disaster.

The receipe was super easy and I even measured correctly *my measuring cup starts at 1 cup so anything under that I have to guess* I baked it for about 12 minutes at 450 and here’s the result;

I sent Antz a pic and he said they look so good he’s coming home for lunch to taste them. I am going to pick up Anthony’s Mom today at 4 so she can babysit Liv while we play volleyball tonight. *So excited to play*. I am hoping she will agree to spend the night Friday so she can babysit while we go to dinner and a movie and come with us to the Calabasas farmers market Saturday morning. Check out my sweetie pie!

The verdict is in

I finally baked my first pie. I followed a *baking for Dummies* simple receipe. I think I should have keep it in for another 10 minutes for the crust to be flakier but the strawberries are pretty soggy. I may have used too much sugar and flour because the inside of the pie isn’t firm. We tasted 2 pieces *with a ton of whipped cream* and it was ok but maybe after a night in the fridge it will solidify and the strawberries won’t be so tart.

Next time I’ll attempt a graham cracker crust or oreo cookie crust. This pie was a disaster, too soggy, the crust wasn’t cooked enough and it ended up in the garbage disposal. *Boo*

He needs me, He needs me

Antz and I are obsessed with this song *and I adore Shelly Duvall*

Today is a ho-hum type of day. Nothing extraordinary planned. I could go to Target but I’m staying home since my Mom is due in town and may drop by. I just gave Liv a bath and she is contently napping on her playmat. I have New Orleans on my mind. Yesterday I called and the hotel is indeed sold out for that weekend. The reservations agent is supposed to email me if anyone cancels but that may be unlikely. I so could use a vacation but I’m not sure New Orleans is the best place for Olivia. Our friends will want to spend their time in the bars and I would rather hang out in the cemetary *and meet a real witch doctor*. Keith & Tina know some people who could babysit for us but I’m not so keen on leaving her with strangers. I would much rather take her to San Francisco for her first flight. We are familiar with the city, it’s much more bebe friendly and there is a W there *#18*

*we stayed at the W in San Jose*

Virgin America is having a sale for flights from LA to SF for $49 each way. It would be awesome to go for our anniversary but then we’d miss our annual Duke’s Malibu dinner

Last year they changed the surf n’ turf to Polynesian steak. I am hoping this year it’s back to the original. We plan on taking Liv *hoping she’ll sleep the entire time*

Mmmmm Good!

Wow, dinner tonight was terrific! I looked up a receipe for blue cheese burgers *a la Black Cow Cafe* and I seasoned and marinaded the meat. Antz came home and grilled to perfection and we had strawberry  margaritas with our fancy burgers and fries.

I am completely in love with these miniatures by this artist *Thomas Doyle*

So creative, so dark yet comical. I would love to buy some of his pieces but I’m sure they cost thousands. At least I can drool over his website. Antz is drawing at the moment for some freelance so we may go to New Orleans afterall.

Cupcake Queen

Yesterday I picked up my Mommy-in-Law, Maria and we went to lunch at Thai Eagle Rox. She had never tried Thai food before so I ordered chicken pad thai for her. She was so enthralled with Liv she barely ate but she assured me she liked it.

I hadn’t had Thai in ages, so yummy! So we hung out at my house until Antz came home and I showed her my cupcake books.

I really want to start practicing some of the receipes in the books. I also want to make more cookies *like our christening ones*

I have to call Les to find out where she bought her fondant. Before I can create yumminess, I need supplies

Compliments of Goddess Martha. Antz Mom is onboard with helping me become a Cupcake Queen. Antz is home early today *yay Summer Fridays* and he’s making lunch for us. My angel is playing on her mat and cooing up a storm *so in love*

Then I need to run errands and possibly pick up a new bathing suit for swimming at Keith’s tomorrow.

Weekend o’ Birthdays

Last weekend was my Mommy’s and my BFF, Aimee’s birthdays. We decided at the last minute to go to my Mom’s house in Apple Valley. It was fun, we picked up *the yummest* steak and shrimp from Applebees and I got my yummy blue coconut slush from Sonic. We got in the spa with Liv and she slept while floating in her starfish. We came back to LA on Sunday to drop off Aimee’s painting. We dressed Liv in her in the onesie Aimee bought her that says Mommy is Queen. I didn’t think it would fit because it’s 3-6 months but it looked great on her.

I LOVE how punk rock she looks!!

We luckily found parking on her street *despite crazy Venice Beach crowds* so we hung out at her house for a while. Believe it or not, she didn’t like the painting!!

Boo!
Oh well, she wants this version of the Virgin Mary so Antz will paint it for her.

I am so excited because I found the scarves I was looking for from Target.

I also got one in white and I didn’t have to plunk down the $98 Nordstrom price tag. I am still searching for the perfect cardigan. While at Target I picked up these adorable books.

These make me want to bake like a madwoman. I have so many cupcake designs I want to experiment with but I definitely need to get new muffin tins and Goddess Martha baking tools. Speaking of Mad, I need to watch the new episode of Mad Men *yay*

Today’s the Big Day!

Do you like the new look? Antz designed my new header for me! 🙂

Today was our highly anticipated 2nd ultrasound. We saw the heartbeat!!! The little bebe had a strong flicker and growing beautifully.

There was some hemotoma so I was put on bed rest this week. 🙁

I am now tucked in by Antz, warm and comfy in bed watching old episodes of Bringing Home Baby. I am so relieved to know the heart is strong and our bebe is healthy. I have been having trouble sleeping but I’m sure it is anxiety. I had an amazing weekend. We went to Vinny & Natalie’s wedding and had a blast. I ate shrimp and garlic potatoes and they ran out of wedding cake so they brought our table strawberry cheesecake. Nat & Vinny were so cute, I totally cried during their vows. Story looked so cute *hair by Liz*.

The Gang

It was a really fun night. On Sunday I met up with my old friends from Starbucks at Kabuki (no sushi for me, of course). I hadn’t seen Tarah and Trisha for years. Tarah is in the process of converting to Judism before her wedding which I think is awesome. Trisha is going to nursing school so she is super happy.
*from left to right* Tarah, Erin, Trisha, Me & Aimee
Me & my bestie!
They were super excited about our pregnancy. I can’t wait till we send out the shower invites, it’s gonna be super fantastic.
