She’s changing her name!

Hello lovelies,

I am thinking about my blog name and I have decided to change the web address. I have tried unsuccessfully for the last 4 years to obtain the domain name of violentlyhappy.com. The dude who owns it doesn’t have a public email address and hasn’t updated his blog for many years. I tried to contact him via the website host but no dice.

I adore the name Violently Happy. It’s dear to me for many reasons. It’s one of my favorite Björk songs.

I think it’s the perfect cohesion of opposite nature. I like the balance of chaos and harmony that is inflected in the name. It sounds good and has power behind it. It describes me perfectly. Alas, reading blog books and even attending an online blogging workshop has taught me the first rule of blogging is establishing your brand. I’m by no means a “professional blogger” but as someone who made a whopping $150 in sponsored revenue and holding a nice steady amount of traffic from all over the world *well, according to Google analytics* I am ready to get rid of the long ass web address  I made it up seven years ago when I decided to try this whole blogging thing out *and only published two posts that year* Besides, http://www.lovesrobots.blogspot.com is pretty cumbersome to type or remember and I was dumb to even choose it then but so many of my choices were taken, so I settled. Also, I don’t even love robots, I’m sure they will all go berzerk, attack and destroy mankind.

Please, listen to the prophecy.

So all you lovelies who subscribe or have this web address saved, please note I am now officially…

www.sunkissis.blogspot.com

I have had the AOL username sunkissis since 1996 *I know I’m their most valued customer*. That’s like the year the internet began! I remember my Mom invited Antz and I over her house to check out her new Mac computer. We ended up picking our screennames that day. I choose sunkissis because sunkisses was taken and Antz went with blucartoonchickn because he’s a boy and he likes to draw and he’s a nerd. Anyway, we stayed on her computer until the sun came up downloading music and playing in the famous chatroom Guess Movie by Plot *any oldies remember that?* We were hooked to the interwebs and those names have been with us ever since.

In 1998 I got my first iMac

I thought I was hot shit when I got mine!

Sunkissis is my email, my Instagram username, my Pinterest and my twitter handle, may as well keep it all the same family. Lucky for me, it’s available. I just hope I can figure out a way to get this address change to the rest of the world *since clicking on my old blog address no longer works* I wish I knew more about learning computers.

What’s that address again?

The Grand Budapest Hotel

I don’t get to the cinema as often as my pre-kid days which is actually making me much more selective in my film choices. The last movie I saw was Gravity which was amazing. I am highly anticipating the new Wes Anderson movie.

The Grand Budapest Hotel

Antz says his films are all the same and I say “Good!” His formulaic approach makes me happy. I am elated to see my yummy Jeff Goldblum and Jason Schwartzman and my favorite crazy kooks Tilda Swinton and Willem Dafoe.  Saoirse *which I always pronounce Say-oh-err-see* is a nice addition to his regular cast. I am a bit disappointed Anjelica Huston was missing from Fantastic Mr Fox and this one but maybe she lost her cool cred for appearing on that Smash show which is, of course, now cancelled. I am also missing Waris Ahluwalia from the cast. Bet you didn’t know he’s an amazing jewelry designer and a stone cold fox. I would melt if Antz would ever dress this dapper.

I LOVE this dude! I wanna make him laugh so hard that milk comes out of his nose and then I’ll shampoo his magnificent beard and comb it all night long. Wes, we want more Waris!! Here’s some more photos for you to drool over. Sex-say!

A few weeks ago Kumar Pallana passed away. He is the Grandpa I wish I had. He was so cute in Rushmore and The Royal Tenebaums. Did you ever catch the scene when Etheline is bringing out Margot’s birthday cake and her hair almost catches fire, you see Kumar react to it if you look closely. He still win’s for best character name ever. Good night, Mr. Littlejeans!

He used to do a spinning plates act on the Mickey Mouse Club

I am hoping Santa*Antz* stuffs my stocking with these lovely bookie wookies.

Still my third favorite movie

Michael K is my homeboy

Remember last month I whined about sucking at a job writing for D-listed? Then despite my lack of qualifications and overall uncoolness, I still applied? Well, Mister K wrote me via email this evening!!

“Hi!

I owe you a whole lot of balloons with “I’m
Sowwy” written on each of them, because I am so late in responding to
you. I had a lot of applications to read and since I’m lazy and kind of
slow in the head it took me a while. Thank you for taking time out of
your life to apply to be an intern for my mess of a blog, but I have
decided to go with another candidate.

I will
drink to you tonight, and since this is obviously a form letter (see: me
being lazy) I have a lot of drinking to do tonight. So I should get to
it.

Thank you again. If you do hate me because
of this, let’s meet out back and handle it by catfighting, because I’ve
always want to Vaseline up my face.

Love and Lucite,
Michael”

Why am I all giddy like the time I met Björk and asked her *like a complete dörk* if I could take a picture with her and she told me “NO!” and I followed her all night trying to get a photo with her anyway?! I find celebrity rejection hilarious!
PS Never piss Björk off…She’s tiny yet ratchet!

I’m so happy he was kind enough to let me *and the rest of us who applied* down gently. I wasn’t even expecting a response. Now he’s making me wanna Single White Female him even more.

Now I must go pray to my Michael K shrine made of cheeto bags and lucite heels!!

Laptop still broken

The little kitchen that could!

Good morning lovelies!

It feels like an eternity since I’ve blogged but I am back and with exciting news to share! Our sweet little cucina made her debut on theKitchn this morning. I can’t help but cringe at our before photos, yet it’s funny how so in love I was with that awful orangish/yellow kitchen when we first bought our house seven years ago. I really, really love my new kitchen.

That fabric swatch we picked up at the Ban.do garage sale has really functioned well for us! A steal at $7!
I’m normally not a huge fan of blue but I love how the colors pop in such a neutral palette.

It would be rad if you head over the theKitchn and leave a comment on what you think.

Enough about our kitchen, I finally have some photos I salvaged from my Instagram since I still can’t upload any to my laptop *so lame!* Last weekend we went to Liv’s good friend Jianna’s 5th birthday party at an indoor party place called Scooter’s Jungle. It was super fun, the adults were playing just as hard as the kiddos. Here are a video of us being dorks on my Instagram, Super slide.

Ready to party!
Antz and his whimsical wrapping
Making silly faces with the birthday girl in the mirror
Please note the huge NO RUNNING sign!
Princess posing, Liv shows you how it’s done.
Eagerly waiting to go inside
We kicked each other’s butt in table tennis
Cayce, Chayanne and Ann-Marissa *this was the least blurry I got*
I bounced so hard the kids were hitting the ceiling!

Liv on the zipline cracks me up!

Happy Happy Birthday Jianna!

Thanks Nicole & James for the wicked fun party

Ready for the best face ever?!!

My kid is super rad!

Thursday Liv’s class had a pumpkin carving party at school. I baked spookie cookies for the potluck.

What would any typical three year girl want to carve in her pumpkin? A vampire of course!

She kept calling the pumpkin guts gross, that’s my kid!
Liv’s most awesome teacher, Miss Maricris

Liv’s BFF Liam and his Mommy.
Scary Vampire!
Mwah ah hah!

 Have a lovely day!
