Bones, bones, brittle little bones!

If you don’t know the magic that is Islands…you are missing out!!

however, I’m referring to another type of bone…DINOSAUR BONES!! Rawrrrr!

Oh, what a cute chalkboard sign you say? They are available in our Etsy Shop *like my infomercial?*
Antz Mommy’s birthday was Tuesday so Antz took today off so we could go to the Natural History Museum. It was super fun seeing Olivia’s eyes wild with wonder, checking out the exhibits. The museum is right around the corner from is Mom’s house but we’ve only been once with Aimee’s son Holden when he was younger.

Antz Mom is a serious gardener. She can grow anything!! We bought her some gardening tools for her birthday and she freaked out. The gardens are like her idea of heaven.

At first I thought I was going to throw our Nikon in the nearest trash bin but it finally proved to be worthy.

Liv was walking around pointing at everything saying Dude!! Moose, one of my faves. I love their noses.

So she pretty much loved every single animal in the museum with exception to these guys.
How is she afraid of the animal she just saw this summer in person? Weird!

She runs and…

…runs! One day she’ll be able to outrun us. Don’t worry, I’m sure my medical insurance will cover a jazzy powerchair.

Like, rarrrrr dude!

These next photos are not for the squeamish, if you get grossed out by watching Fear Factor, you may wanna skip over to the end.

Antz Mommy is a collector of ceramic, glass and wood elephants. We bought her one from the museum but she couldn’t resist posing in the elephant chair. Yeah, she’s pimp like that.

Check out that sleepy face

Good times, goodnight!

Design Mania

Lately I’ve been on an extreme home design kick. I’ve been mood boarding like crazy *I may post a few when they are finished but I’m trying to keep them secret until I actually can use them* and scouring Apartment Therapy.

I am in LOVE with these artsy/toylicious rooms

Not for this house, of course, but my Dream House!

Crazy…I know but that lovely house is always on my mind. I’ve also been watching alot of Emily Henderson not only on her show Secret from a Stylist but also on HGTV’d. At first I wasn’t a huge fan. I tried to give her a shot but I found myself shouting at the TV, “Noo, don’t add any more baskets or Boo, she should have kept that first rug!” Needless to say, many others must have been saying the same thing because about 6 episodes into the season her show discarded the 2 layer design approach and she now infuses the couple’s style with one cohesive look. Now I’m smitten. I do find it incredulous how Emily finds gorgeous expensive-looking pieces and says Oh, I found this for just $50. I roll my eyes at people who can find trash and make it treasure *Anthony* However I’ve developed a design crush on her. So as I’m clearing out my DVR I’ve noticed I’ve been hoarding episodes of Secrets of a Stylist and Home by Novagratz *super FABulous design couple* so I decided to take a photo of my favorite rooms so I can get design ideas.

This is one of my favorite rooms, I adore the contrast of the blue sofa with the yellow rug.

This is a guest house design. I love the beachy feel and I want that Capriz hanging lamp.

Seeing the Pebble Rug from West Elm in this room has made me reconsider it on my wishlist. We saw it in person and thought it would shed too much but if we use it in a low traffic area like the living room, it would look much better than the overpriced Finnia rug from Anthropologie I was thinking of going with.

I am not a fan of leather couches but I do love this wall shelving!

I know these photos don’t showcase the rooms as good as telly, but I find them inspirational. She does like to follow a formula for her designs. I like that most of the rugs she uses are under $1,000 and I am starting to like antiques more.

Check out J. Crew’s Creative Director Jenna Lyon’s classic and lovely home *I saw her rad nursery in Domino it made me want the Oeuf furniture for Liv’s nursery* Her house is giving me goosebumps. Just goregous…

Her shoe collection *and they way she displays them* are sick

Now if only I can convince Antz to paint Olivia’s closet like this

Happy Weekend! I’ll be mood boarding to my heart’s delight.

Missoni Accomplished!!

So yesterday Aimee came over and we had our weekly date. She treated Liv and me to lunch at her favorite restaurant, Kabuki. It was sooo yummy!

Then we had to go to our usual spot, Target. I was telling her the story about the Missoni Madness when I said, we should go see if they have any suitcases left. Clearly under the impression I wouldn’t find one. Lo and behold what did we see??
JACKPOT!!! DING, DING, DING!!
No way, this could not the same Missoni suitcase that I saw people begging a woman to buy it for $500 last Tuesday!! I grabbed it so fast.
SO CUTE! I had to have it. It must have been my lucky day because not only did I get the suitcase but I found a Missoni travel bag too. Ideally, I really wanted the bright multi-colored version.
But I am not at all complaining about my treasure.

After years of buying luggage, I’ve never had such a cute bag. It came with 2 shoe bags *on our last trip, my shoes were filthy on the bottom and I didn’t want to put them next to my clean clothes* and it came with a laundry bag *no more ziplock bags for me*. So chic!! Antz was like, SELL IT!! He was convinced I’d triple my money but I checked eBay and it seems like the craze has died down. There were many suitcases listed for $200 or more but the black and white version all had zero bids. The colorful one is selling better but they included a matching tote bag for the $325 price tag. Nah, this bag is all mine. Now I’m super excited for our next trip *fingers crossed it will be Hawaii for our 10 year wedding anniversary*

Holy Shoes!

So last week Olivia’s feet decided to grow at a HULK-like rate. I just bought her 2 pair of  See Kai Run shoes in 12 – 18 months in confidence because this kid’s feet are uniquely narrow and long *think skis*

I miss these tiny feet

so I figured she was good in the shoe department. Turns out during our date day with Aimee, Liv was wearing her new sandals

Aimee noticed Liv had a red mark on the back of her foot. D’oh! Her new sandals were already too tight and rubbing against the back of her foot. LAME! So now I need to get her some new kicks in a larger size. How did she go from fitting a comfortable size 5 to size 7 in less than a month? I’ve had my eye on these adorable Livie & Luca shoes for months but Liv’s feet were too small.

Now they only have them in navy but I’m still ordering them. I really love these Birdie shoes but I am not sure what size to order them in, her current size or a size larger and wait a day for her to grow into them. I think these are perfect shoes for the fall.

I also need to replace her Converse

And her old Vans with these Hello Kitty Slip ons, still not sure if I want to get Yo Gabba Gabba! Vans

She outgrew her Saltwater sandals too. I really want these red ones but they are sold out in her size and Antz wants to stick with the tan color since it’s more neutral.

and I also want to get her these rad turquoise Toms

While I’m at it I can’t resist these metallic oxfords
The hard part is admitting that now her feet are growing at a much faster rate so it will be difficult buying so many shoes for her so often. She needs a new car seat too. I am pretty sure we are going with this Paul Frank seat but I’m bummed we’ll have to transfer it from my car to Antz car all the time.
STOP GROWING LIV!!!

Mission Missoni for Target

At midnight last night I was actually in bed *surprise* but awake on my iphone checking the Target website to see if the Missoni stuff was available yet. Nothing so I went to sleepyland. This morning I stirred around 6:40 am so I checked again *I literally slept with my phone in my hand, you ever do that?* and the site was down. I did see an article online about how the Target pop up store Missoni launch in New York sold out in like minutes. Anyone who knows me knows that I only get up early *before 9* for the few following reasons: I have a flight to catch, I am going to Disneyland or Olivia has a pediatrician appt *which tomorrow she has* so I woke up around 9:15 and got straight out of bed because today is Missoni day! I had to go to the post office *which in retrospect, I regret going to first* to send an order of chalkboard signs *etsy shop plug* and mail Carlos & Stephanie’s marriage license *IT’S OFFICIAL!*

So it was 9:59 am when I walked into my local Target. I knew it was a bad sign when there was no shopping carts in the front of the store. Women were literally running in the store. It felt like Black Friday when the crazy people try to buy that one flat screen tv at Walmart for $200. This is what I saw when walked in…

Believe it or not I was actually hopeful when I saw those fugly coats left because behind there were some sweaters. I should have known better cause they were all Mossimo

In the home furniture department…
NADA
There was a woman at the registers with a black and white Missoni suitcase and I heard people saying they would buy it from her in the parking lot. I saw about 8 women with their shopping carts filled to the top with Missoni stuff, shoes, clothes, rugs, pillows, frames. They gathered in a circle and were trading stuff among each other. I walked past them several times hoping they would set aside something for me to grab but they just grinned like Cheshire cats with pleasure. They know they hit the jackpot. They pretty much cleaned out the shelves and I heard one of them say, “I grabbed the last blanket out of the Target guys hand when he put them out” Bitch! It was so hard not to grab her cart and run away. I decided to go upstairs to and see what was going on in the childrens clothing section.
Well, hello there!

I know, Missoni cape jackpot right? however they were $43.99 each and all size large in big girl.

It may look like there’s tons of stuff but it is all BIG girl sizes. Now normally I would’ve grabbed everything off those racks so fast and ebay them in a heartbeat, but I spoke to the woman who checked me out told me that even with all the looney business happening today, in a few weeks folks will start returning stuff and it will all go on clearance. That’s when I will strike. Strike hard I shall! But don’t think I walked away empty-handed. I found some treasures in Liv’s size that I am very pleased with.

Liv seems to like her new clothes

I don’t even know if I am ready to take the tags off. It’s like the time when I took my Grandma’s wedding ring when I was in middle school and accidently left my precious heirloom in a soap dish at a Coco’s restaurant in Palm Springs.
Mommy did good?

Carlos & Stephanie’s Wedding 9*10*11

Their wedding was beautiful. I was nervous and a little frazzled at first, but as soon as I looked at Carlos and Steph, I felt calm and joyous. Antz was in charge of photos, and as you can see our camera was being contrary *the lighting wasn’t working with him either* but he did manage to get some lovely shots. The videographer will send me a copy too. I am so happy for my friends, they are so rad!! Thanks you guys for including me in your special day.

My hair looks like a bob but I had a side bun, just can’t see it

We made these signs for the bride & groom *I wish I had them for our wedding*

Dreamy vintage Bentley

My photographer

Time to Officiate!

I was able to get behind the scenes footage

Carlos’s Mom made both of Steph’s dresses. She looked stunning!!!

Carlos had to wait to see his bride for the first time

It was a really sweet moment

Going over some logicstics

Am I singing opera?

Antz did their illustrations, of course

Here we go…..Eeeeep!

The processional music was a cover of Such Great Heights *one of my favorite songs*  by The Section Quartet. LOVE!!

I have no idea how Antz got the lighting so perfect in this shot but it is my fave

We missed shots of Chloe but here’s the video

Carlos lost it reading his vows. It was really difficult for me not to cry.

I DID IT, YAY!!
The newlyweds!

Yay the banner I made!!
How cute is this??

Ugh, someone tell my neck to wake up! I am not happy with how neckless I look here 🙁

You have no idea how much I LOVE photos booths. I could’ve stayed in there all night.

The ones we kept

They are making a scrapbook so I graciously donated our best photo booth pics for them.

DINNER TIME!!

I adore goregous table settings

The saddest thing happened. The bridal party made a grand entrance dancing in pairs and I was positive I was filming it. Today I discovered the video was gone. Super lame, they were so cute. I’ll upload it when I get the wedding video. UPDATE! Somehow my iphone decided to not be a brat and miraculously recovered my lost bridal party footage, so enjoy!

You know what you did….

This is the only photo we took with the lovely couple

Mazel Tov!!

I have much more videos and photos to upload but I am very tired. We are going for a walk. Later Skaters!

C + S Wedding Rehearsal & Dinner

I am so anxious for the big wedding…Last night was the rehearsal and dinner. The rehearsal went off without a hitch. I will be the first person walking down the aisle *yikes*

The wedding venue is lovely

The Bridesdoggy Chloe

I made Steph’s bouquet at her bridal shower

The lovely bride-to-be

Check out this girl’s rock…please put sunglasses on before you look
They are super cute
The groom-to-be with his sister and Arielle the adorable flowergirl

The rehearsal dinner was held at a chef’s house. Let me say this house was FABulous *and the food and drinks too*!! We arrived a bit early so I was lucky enough to take some photos *even though my iphone sucks* and ooh and aww over everything. The thing I loved most about the modern house was it had the exact backyard layout as my dream house. It was landscaped just perfectly, there was an organic garden *they used the fresh veggies in the dinner*

They had a world map pinned like ours

This was the expression I had when I walked around the house, it gave me so many design ideas!
Okay, dinner was ridiculously yummy. I said a little toast to the bride & groom but her brother Matthew’s speech was the sweetest.

Cameras at night are my kryponite *hey that rhymes*

Thanks for the amazing evening guys, I am so excited for wedding, CONGRATS!!

Home a Love Story

Unless you are a hobo *nuthing wrong with that* you have a home. My home gives me mixed feelings. I am trying to hard to embrace that fact that we are lucky to own a house in this economy, yet I don’t love my home.

I have to admit, sometimes I feel like we settled. After writting 13 offers and having them all shot down, I was feeling rejected and depressed. We looked at every single open house in Los Angeles for 2 and a half years. I remember every Monday going to work and my co-workers asking me if we bought a house yet. We weren’t being picky but there was 3 requirements: location *close to Antz job* at least 2 beds, 2 baths and a big yard. This house ticks 2 out of the 3. I should be grateful for the proximity of Antz job. For 6 years he commuted  over an hour each way and to now drive there in less than 10 minutes is lovely. Then there’s our back yard, when I found our house online the pictures did not do it justice. Our yard is the envy of our friends. It’s private, has 180 views and fruit trees and *only in the spring* lush, green grass. Our backyard has served as the perfect spot for entertaining *don’t I sound like an HGTV show host?* and contrary to popular belief, has been pretty low-maintenance. That’s pretty much where the love affair ends. I admit, there are features I do appreciate about our house: we have a garage, our property is securely fenced in, we are on a hill so it gives us a view. I do like our Craftsman style, our fireplace is lovely *although we can never use it*, the hardwood floors are nice, and I like the layout of our house. However…as fantastic as our location is from Antz job, Highland Park was never my top choice to live. I really wanted Eagle Rock but we couldn’t afford anything AT ALL! We literally live 3 blocks from Eagle Rock’s zip code. Now, I am taking into account, HP has been improving *Art Walk and our awesome new neighbors* but the city is still not blowing my skirt up. We spend so much time in Atwater Village, people think we live there. Liv’s dance class is there, her school is in walking distance, we attend most of AV events. Then there’s the community, I am a member of the Atwater Village Mom’s group, I want to join the neighborhood council and Friends of the Los Angeles river. I want to volunteer at the library, invest in the AV Farm and clean up the river. I don’t feel the sense of community here. My across the street neighbors are a daily reminder of how much I want to move. I really want to move in 4 years, herein lies the problem. Our house is underwater, we have bad plumbing and foundation issues so selling our house for a profit is out of the question. There’s the possibility of a short sell but it will damage our credit and may make it impossible to apply for a new mortgage. Then there’s my dream house. I did something risky and sent an email to the owners letting them know I really love that house and I’d like to buy it one day. Fortunately, the owner is really nice and even though he said they aren’t planning on selling, he said if he does, he’ll let me know. YAY!! Now it’s up to me to be ready when this day comes. I have to beef up our savings, find a miracle to sell this house, qualify for a new mortgage and find a way to make them an offer they are happy with yet we can afford. That’s a tall order. You know what, I am a total optimist. I can make it happen. I will have my Barbie Dream House!!

Tot Mom

Michael K and I are pretend soulmates. He fucking gets it like nobody’s business. I really hope we have a chance to meet in person one day *yep, a new stalker*

I came across this post today about the TLC show Toddlers & Tiaras and I got to thinking, when will someone step in and say enough is enough.

http://static.discoverymedia.com/videos/components/tlc/7638524e8e0600eac6ed8e055452774054a5871f/snag-it-player.html?auto=no

It used to be the babies were forced into formal gowns, *that cost as much as a foreign car* painted full of makeup that even Tammy Faye herself would say “too much” and browbeaten to parade across a stage while 4 of the creepiest pedofolks judging them on their 2 year old physique and personality.

Mah babee is tha purdiest of dem all!!

It’s supposed to be a cautionary tale but like Teen Mom, it’s given just enough attention to allow it to thrive. Look at the Teen Moms, making $100k per season for simply being dumb bitches!! I would shit my pants if I ever heard them actually give a shit about their kids like they care about getting their nails done, whining to their loser boyfriends and spending every penny to get their boobs fixed. Maybe it’s me becoming older and more bitter but this further supports my theory that every American should be mandated to have a license and pass a series of qualifying tests to make children. You have to learn how to drive a car, then pass a series of exams and be financially responsible for it every year, why not go through the same to raise a kid? Childcare classes aren’t mandatory?? WTF? I know from experience, this shit is HARD and I have full support. Maybe there would be less child abuse, crazy pageant Moms and poor people having too many kids *OCTOMOM I’m side-eyeing you, bitch* I get that in Ah-mur-ree-kuh we have the freedom to be complete assholes *Hi crazy eyes Michelle Bachman* but do we also have the luxury to throw common sense and the well-being of our children out the window? I’m all for Miss Teen Whore USA pageants. Let ’em slut it up on stage when they are old enough to have real tits not fake ones like these!!!

Kate + 8 *sad, dysfunctional kids*, 19 and Counting *on this woman’s uterus falling out*. TLC is one fucked up channel. The only thing I actually LEARN from this network is how stupid people really are *I REALLY didn’t know I was pregnant*. Seriously, The Little Children Exploiter Network is destroying our already endangered society. We used to have Punky Brewster and The Facts of Life as our source of entertainment. Nobody ever caught an STD on those shows. *just don’t think of hiding in an abandoned refrigerator!* Now we watch Jersey Shore, Real *Bitchy* Housewives and Hoarders, what’s next? The I’m seriously taking a shit channel? There is a thin line that parents are crossing and our children are suffering for it. I crave for the day that the Scripps National Spelling Bee gets as many viewers as Keeping up with the who gives a shit? Kardashians! I won’t hold my breath, that’s as likely as Mtv actually showing MUSIC VIDEOS videos again.

Sorry for the rant, the insanity has just got to stop.

I hear ya Susan, not sure if anyone else does.

My Guide to The Taste 2011

My friend Stephanie got us passes for the Street Eats food tasting at Paramount’s New York backlot today. I am too full as well as too drunk to write an articulate review *like I would if I wasn’t drunk* so here are the photos. Sorry there is no smell-o-vision because the food was YUM!! There was a freak 5 minute down pour and a crazy thunderstorm but otherwise a lovely late summer day. I hope I can stay motivated to make peach cobbler because the cobbler I ate today was sinful.

I had many o’ drinks!!

Soo stuffed!! Sooo Happy

High Five Steph, I cannot wait to go next year!!!
