It’s begining to look a lot like New Years!

Christmas was lovely, our little girl destroyed the wrapping paper and was only slightly amused with her presents.

She really enjoyed eating her phone

We went to Aimee’s house to hang out and a torriental storm came from nowhere. We ordered some gross thai food *Boo* We drove past the Venice Canals but it was too rainy to enjoy the houses.

Yesterday we returned from visiting my Mommy and Antz & I discussed my resolutions *and my likeihood of achieving them* I feel very motivated and positive about them all with the exception of Francais!! I have some sort of mental block that will not allow me to retain *and correctly pronounce* le French. I have an app I downloaded on my iphone and I listen to the words but I can’t pick up the accent. I also have a Nintendo DS game but I am much better at written French than spoken. I seem to be the only one who thinks I’ll learn using Rosetta Stone. I even made about 50 flash cards a year ago but I have to find them….sigh! Well, we spent the past 3 day at my Mom’s and I did something that is so random yet amazing! I cooked! I not only cooked but I cooked a complicated recipe and it was super yummy. Antz couldn’t get over how delicious it turned out.

Lizzie’s Louisiana Gumbo
It’s funny because this was not only my first time cooking gumbo, but also my first time eating it. The roux was pretty tricky and I cooked it much longer than 30 minutes as the recipe stated but it somehow turned out perfecto.

We had a rad time at my Mom’s, we played Scattergories *hilarious* and I got to sit by the fire *makes me wish our fireplace worked* Early Tuesday morning guess what woke me up?? An owl!! It was hooting right outside our window. It was too dark to see it but that’s pretty gnarly. We went to Target *I like the one by my Mom’s house* and I was looking for some good deals on clearance Christmas decor but I didn’t find anything. It wasn’t too cold in Apple Valley but it is supposed to snow so much today that the freeway to get to there will be closed. I did take this lovely shot on the drive.

All the surrounding mountain peaks were covered in snow. I really wanted to drive to Lake Arrowhead *40 minutes from my Moms* but Antz needed to have snow tires and Liv didn’t have any super warm clothes and shoes *Gah, I must buy her Uggs!!* When we came home yesterday I did some cleaning but I need to take apart all the kitchen cabinets, the laundry nook, linen closet and my closet and organize, donate and clear out all our clutter. I have a big problem with saving boxes but we sell so much of our stuff that I like to have the original box, but they take up so much space. I wanted to start a project while Antz is off but painting or sanding the cabinets may have to wait until March when it’s not rainy. I started a bathroom mood board but it isn’t finished yet *still searching for new paint*

I was pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive the floor tile is. I am pretty confident that we can install it ourselves but I’ll have to rent a wet saw for cutting. My total bathroom budget is under $5k. We should be starting in March because we have to clear out the garage first so we have space for storing the tools. I feel so Design on a Dime!!
Our lovely ball of sunshine is 29 weeks
I couldn’t get one pic without her chewing her shoe
I must get dressed *Lizzie BE ON TIME!!* we are meeting my friend Aura at the Long Beach Aquarium today!!

Apple Valley weekend

We decided to spend the weekend at my Mom’s in Apple Valley. It’s probably the last time we’re going out there this summer. I totally forgot to pack Liv’s starfish float so we didn’t get in the jacuzzi this time. We went to Target and Best Buy to check out flat screen TVs and sound systems for my Mom. She bought a cute Samsung *with a little prodding from me*, a Bose surround sound and a full motion mount, which I am mesmerized by, it swivels 180 degrees so we can watch TV from any spot in the kitchen/family room. Antz installed the TV and the mount and I hooked up the cable and the surround sound. *patting my own back* We still need to figure out where to put the cords.

Antz and Liv watching the new TV…Love Liv’s pouty face!

By the time it was finished, the day was over. We ate pizza and watched Inglourious Basterds. This morning we went to my Mom’s cute next door neighbors *Skip & Marilyn* house to thank them for the present they bought Liv.

Liv’s lovey

They were super nice. Liv wore her sailor suit *my favorite, from Godmommy Aimee*

My Mom likes the style of their house so now she’s inspired to remodel her house and possibly build another house on the property. All this remodel talk has me yearning to work on our tiny bathroom.

When we moved in, I fell in love with this Johnathan Adler 7 Deadly Sins shower curtain *from BB&B* so when we were designing the small space we thought lime green and orange, would be a fun palette for a tiny bathroom. Now we are finding the paint too Nickelodeon themed. I am ready for a more mature color scheme and seller friendly. We want to put in hexagon white 2 x 2 tile flooring *California Bungalow style* install a pedastal sink and replaster the shower/tub white. It’s a hideous dusty rose color as you can see in the before we bought our house photo

Weekend o’ Birthdays

Last weekend was my Mommy’s and my BFF, Aimee’s birthdays. We decided at the last minute to go to my Mom’s house in Apple Valley. It was fun, we picked up *the yummest* steak and shrimp from Applebees and I got my yummy blue coconut slush from Sonic. We got in the spa with Liv and she slept while floating in her starfish. We came back to LA on Sunday to drop off Aimee’s painting. We dressed Liv in her in the onesie Aimee bought her that says Mommy is Queen. I didn’t think it would fit because it’s 3-6 months but it looked great on her.

I LOVE how punk rock she looks!!

We luckily found parking on her street *despite crazy Venice Beach crowds* so we hung out at her house for a while. Believe it or not, she didn’t like the painting!!

Boo!
Oh well, she wants this version of the Virgin Mary so Antz will paint it for her.

I am so excited because I found the scarves I was looking for from Target.

I also got one in white and I didn’t have to plunk down the $98 Nordstrom price tag. I am still searching for the perfect cardigan. While at Target I picked up these adorable books.

These make me want to bake like a madwoman. I have so many cupcake designs I want to experiment with but I definitely need to get new muffin tins and Goddess Martha baking tools. Speaking of Mad, I need to watch the new episode of Mad Men *yay*

I am such a lamo, forgive me!

I feel like I have neglected my blogging duties but the joy of motherhood leaves me little free time. We are currently at my Mom’s house in Apple Valley. I am so happy we got out of town *even if it’s still local* for a few days. Olivia loves it out here! We put her in her starfish float in the spa, she had so much fun.

Please ignore my lion’s mane hair *another thing I have been neglecting*. She rested on top of the water and was so content. I slathered her with Baby Aveeno sunscreen. Olivia’s cute bathing suit didn’t fit at all *too small* so she was in the buff.

I am majorly bummed because this was such a great deal and super cute. I hope we find another one at Janie & Jack tomorrow. We enjoyed the 105 degrees and the weather out here has been warm, not unbearably hot as it usually is. My Mom set up her room for us and we brought her bassinet. I feel like all I have done out here is eat and watch TV. Well I don’t know how July got here so fast but today our daughter is ONE MONTH OLD!! I can’t believe Antz has to go back to work on Tuesday. I have so much to do in the next 2 days. We have to get our house looking lovely for Liv’s photo shoot on Sunday. I am making cupcakes for Liv’s birthday today when we get back home. We need to find a sundress for Olivia’s photo shoot *and return her bathing suit* at Janie & Jack. I have to go grocery shopping and pick up envelopes for our christening invites. Speaking of christening. I spoke to Leslie about it yesterday and she wants to buy the favors and she found these INCREDIBLE cookies

I adore these cookies but sadly the seller is out of the country and doesn’t deliver to California. BOO! Leslie is going to see if a local bakery can make them. I love the bibs with the monograms. I have to send out the invitations by tomorrow. I am not asking people to RSVP this time so que sera, sera *whatever will be will be*. So far I am only anticipating the grandmothers, the godparents and Antz sisters. We are going to breakfast at the restaurant *Marstons* tomorrow to check how busy they are since they don’t take reservations. I have to go now, I have to load the truck and get back to town so I can start my list of things to do. We’ve been back home since 2:30, I went to the store and bought envelopes from Swains. Looking at our old christening invites we decided that they look a bit dark and medieval.

We love this design. Antz is printing them now.

Here’s the awesome invites, I have to find some pretty stamps tomorrow.

My second attempt at vanilla bean cupcakes for Olivia’s 4 week celebration

I think I’m improving yet I haven’t gotten the icing down yet. I also made a cake but it’s cooling. We don’t have any Fourth of July plans yet although we were invited to a party at our friends Tom & Jess’s house. Antz wants his Mommy to babysit for us but I can’t bear leaving her alone yet. We might just hang in the backyard, make s’mores over the firepit and watch the fireworks at the Rose Bowl and Dodger Stadium.

Turkey Day Yumness 2009

The last time I saw my husband’s family was September for his Mommy’s birthday. That’s when we made the announcement of bebe. We reunited for Thanksgiving yummyness. I actually double-booked myself for Turkey day. I made plans to spend it with our best friends but we decided to make an appearance at Antz Mom’s. Good decision, the food was really good and everyone had questions about the pregnancy…”am I drinking enough water?”, “have you bought any maternity clothes yet?” I am and this weekend I bought my first nursing bras from the Gap.

Maria, my Mommy-in-law, maker of yummy goodness!

Me and my over-endulgence, hey it was Bebe’s first Thanksgiving!

A mere fraction of my hubby’s clan, note the yellow was just coincidental.
So, after many *cranberry toasts* and my husband eating seconds and two pieces of pie, we rushed off to our other family’s house, our BFFs Story & Chris for Thanksgiving round 2. Our friends Jess & Tom made a turkey wrapped in bacon and Story made side dishes galore. We had an exciting game of Taboo and watched Lord of the Rings *true nerds*
A first for us, not so keen on bacon with turkey
Our surrogate family, Story & Chris
It was a fun, stress-free, tummy busting Thanksgiving. I somehow willed myself to wake up at 4am the next morning and I almost joined the madness that is Black Friday but Antz convinced me to make my purchase online. Turns out to be a much better idea and I scored the package deal for $599.99 from Best Buy.com.
Nikon D3000 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera
I have been coveting a Nikon D90 but I think the D3000 is more economically sound to start with a beginner’s SLR.
I haven’t even mastered my Canon Powershot yet. I am more concerned with not dropping or scratching the camera. Friday night we went to Apple Valley to visit my Mommy. That’s where I truly got to enjoy my favorite Thanksgiving tradition, steak and Alaskan king crab legs! I spent the weekend warming my bum by the fire while my mom and Antz worked on tiling the floor of my Mom’s new bathroom. We are going next weekend to help finish. I can’t wait to spend next Thanksgiving with our bebe. Who knows, I may even cook!
