30 Days of Thanks

I have been seeing a bunch of my friends on facebook status giving their daily thanks so I think I’ll pass around some Thankies. Now typically, I am a mean girl, *borderline evil* and crotchety so throwing thank you’s around is quite rare for me. However, I am trying to cleanse my *grouchy* kharma and remembering to say please and thank you *so Olivia doesn’t pick up on my foul-mouthed, bad manners*

Day #1: I am thankful that my hubby has a fantastic job.

*His birthday last year*

When I met him 14 years ago, he was working at Gymboree at the mall and Aaron Bros. *not exactly sexy professions* I asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up and he said, very simply, “I just want to draw all day.” He went to Art College but he didn’t know how to get into the major studios *it’s all about who you know in LA* so one day in 2000, when he told me his friend from Aaron Bros told him to apply to an website, I was quite skeptical. Particularly since dot.coms were going bankrupt like crazy and I was hoping he would get a job at Disney. Well, he got the job at an unknown start-up company in Glendale *which was an hour and a half each way commute* at what I thought was a joke salary. Despite my reservations, he was doing what he loved, and excelling at it. Character artist, then Lead Artist, then Art Manager and now Creative Studio Director…and ten years later we have been more than fortunate. His job has provided more than just finanical stability for us. We had the fortune to travel, *sometimes I even tagged along* to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore *3 times* London and all over the US; Boston, Chicago *we spent our anniversary there and his boss got us a suite at the Sofitel hotel, so much fun* New York a bunch of times, Knoxville, Orlando, Las Vegas and San Francisco.

*I’m sure I’m forgetting some places*. Antz has filled his passport book with exotic locales that he probably wouldn’t have ever thought to have gone. He also has had his share of celebrity mingling. He drew some characters for baby Suri Cruise when she was born. We have been able to attend the Kid’s Choice Awards *3 times* where I met Jodie Foster at the after-party. Can’t wait until Liv is old enough to go.

I couldn’t sneak my camera in so I had to use my iphone *with no flash* so I tried my best, can you spot Jack Black on the stage? He was the host.
I totally geeked out when I met her, she was super cordial and graciously posed even though her sons were waiting for her.

I can honestly say the best thing to come from his job and what I am thankful are 2 things that mean the most. The fact that he works 15 minutes away and can leave work at anytime to come home for lunch, he hasn’t missed one doctor appt. and his job really makes him happy. I also cherish our awesome group of friends. We have travelled together, partied together, eaten *hundreds of dinner and movies* together.

Dia de los Muertos

Yep last night was the Day of the Dead and we went to Stephen & Leslie’s charity event in East LA. Since we were on that side of town *sort of* in Arcadia at the mall, we took our tired asses over there. We have been to the event many times before but this was the first time we went to it at the Civic Center. You may remember this place from my hunt for fresh roasted peanuts a while back. I was shocked to how crowded it was. We thought we would never find Les in the crowd but you couldn’t miss her rad hat. There was a live band, tons of arts & crafts for sale, I was looking for rad hairbows for Liv *and myself* but the ones I liked were a bit pricy and Antz kept telling me he could make it himself for me *we shall see*. We did pick up a pair of pink Calaveras bows for Liv. I am super tired, so I’m going to upload these pics and edit the post tomorrow morning when my brain is functioning properly. Nights!

 *CREEEPPY!!!*

I am a creature of random habits and on the drive home I ended up driving over a bridge so I had to bust out my jump shot *despite Antz telling me how dangerous it was that I was pulled over on a bridge* I couldn’t get a good jump shot so I became determined to get a rad jumping shot somewhere cool. Our destination was right in front of us. We were in Little Tokyo and I saw the Kyoto Grand hotel *a place I’ve wanted to check out for years* We sauntered in like guests of the hotel and headed up to the 3rd floor which is the garden level. Antz & I got some pretty sweet shots but I am sad my cellulite made an unexpected appearance in some of my jumps.

After an hour of jumping all over the place like a flea, I realized the joke was on me because Antz seemed to accidently miss my jumps and tricked me into a workout *my legs are still sore*

Yay, chairs are my friends. So I got my fill of whacky photos so we went home and Antz did some voodoo magic *he wore Liv in the BabyHawk for a few hours while he used his laptop* and kept her asleep in her crib *so far, so good* Dr. Wang said once we start feeding her solids, she should go back to sleeping through the night. *Choir of Angels singing, HALLELUJAH*

The Family that votes together…

…Stays rad together!! This morning my lovely woke up *after a miserable night up and down with Liv, who ended up sleeping with us, BOO* anyway, he woke up super early to take down the Halloween decorations. My biggest pet peeve *and I have tons of them* is when people do not take down their holiday decorations the week after the holiday *I’m looking at you every other house that has Christmas lights on your houses YEAR-ROUND!!* So our house is bland looking again but we will be decorating for Christmas soon. Liv and I slept late *she was on the boob almost all night* and we got out to our poll place by 9:30. It wasn’t crowded at all, surprisingly *I guess we missed the before work crowd* and we were in and out in 10 minutes. We saw our neighbor Carol there.

My first time in heels *ok, I cheated, wedges* since I got preggers over a year ago! I was going for my most conservative look.
Jerry Brown is our man!! Barbara Boxer is our homegirl!!

Our happy Democrat!!
Antz headed off to work while Liv and I went to get my car washed. At 3, we had our appt. with Dr. Wang in her new office *the same office as Dr. Teng*.
*the saran wrap is her numbing cream to help allievate the pain from the needles from her vax*
27 Inches *95th percentile*
I finally got a pic of Liv & Dr. Wang *yay, we heart her*

She handled her shots like a trooper, only cried for a second, we sang Yo Gabba Gabba songs to distract her and the nurse was looking at us like we were nuts but she said we are awesome parents *doesn’t everyone sing “There’s a Party in my Tummy” to their bebes?*

Dr. Wang gave us the green light to start solids *eeep*. I am happy she is developing so well, but I am sad I will have less time BFing her. That’s our special time and it makes me feel needed. *Sads* We are going to pick up these and possibly start this weekend with rice cereal *yuck*

I am also bummed that I she will start to have more smelly diapers. So far life with bebe has been a total breeze *albeit, a million sleepless nights* but smell poops are definitely a bummer. After the doc, we were starving so we went to the Santa Anita Mall and had one of our fave fast food spots, Chicken Now.

Sooo yummers!!
I heart any place that offers Family parking. Fresh & Easy offers it too.

Dammit Janet!!

After spending All Hallow’s Eve on the party circuit, I flaked on T-or-T in Venice and opted for staying in bed, all toasty, watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show marathon. I wasn’t that tired, we managed to make it home just before midnight, and I had one measly wine cooler *so 10th grade, I know* Antz worked on freelance all day to his heart’s content. At dusk, we were all ready to hand out candy *the unwanted leftovers from the Nick party* after waiting an hour with our gate open and Antz pacing the porch in his grisly face

*He’s ghastly!!*

we didn’t get one kid this year. Oh well, fine with me, last year the costumes were super lame and we kept worrying the kiddies might trip on our front stairs. The parties were good, the first one was Tom & Jes’s *at their newly renovated pad*

Salut!!!

Antz was not a fan of his Ameretto shot.
We spend much of the night discussing our love of the horror movie genre. The Shining is my ATF *all-time fave*
and I was going nuts talking about my wanderlust for all things European *except the food*
So we headed over to party #2 at Connie & Justin’s

We hung out with Leslie & Stephen but I was really cold and Liv was a sleepyhead so we didn’t stay long. Connie & Justin live about 4 blocks from us and they have a raised veggie garden
that I want *but not at this house, our next house* Leslie & Stephen invited us to their non-profit’s Day of the Dead Festival on Tuesday but we have a full day *voting, Liv’s 5-month doc appt and I need to get some laundry done* So overall it was a great Halloween but we are looking forward to next year when Liv is older and we can really trick or treat or maybe take her to one of her friend’s house. I was looking online and I started planning Liv’s 3rd birthday at the Treehouse Social Club.
Hi, My name is Liz and I am a planaholic!
