Winter is here in Los Angeles

It is so cold in my house. Every single leaf on the plum tree in front of our house has fallen off. It has been windy and freezing. We took week 16 pics last night but I don’t love them like the other weeks.

Well, it was cold and I wasn’t in a photogenic mood. I am mega bummed because yesterday my laptop died. Dell is sending me a new hard drive but I won’t get it until Monday which is torture for me. I am borrowing Antz computer in the meantime but he has the next 4 days off and with 1 computer it’s going to be a very miserable Christmas. Tonight we are going to see Twilight: New Moon and on Friday we are seeing Sherlock Holmes with Story and Chris so that will occupy my time for a while. I am thinking of starting a crafts project but I’m not sure what. We finally sent out our Holiday cards and we are getting great feedback. Next year I want to work in improving my penmanship, I wasn’t so keen on addressing the cards. We received our first official bebe gift from our friends *who recently got married and bought a house* Natalie and Vinny. It’s a Christmas tree hand print ornament. I can’t wait to use it next year which means I have to buy the pink tree for sure.

I’m not sure if I’m going to yoga tonight because the movie starts at 9 and it’s cutting it too close. Maybe I’ll go next Monday. I hope my computer gets fixed soon because I feel like my right hand has been cut off. When I get the new hard drive it will be set back to factory settings so I will lose all my programs and files. Luckily I backed most of everything on my external hard drive but I am worried I won’t be able to reinstall Microsoft Office. It’s also very time consuming to set up everything again. Antz feels guilty when he wants to use his computer because I have nothing to do. We ended up going to bed at 9:30 last night out of sheer boredom. Goes to show how much I rely on my computer for entertainment. Boo!

The wheels on the bus go Fart, fart, fart!

Sorry I couldn’t think of a decent title and I am currently watching the Simpsons. We spent another fun-filled weekend in Apple Valley at my Mom’s. It was cold but it didn’t hail or rain. We had fun, and my Mom and Antz installed a  toilet *titilating, I know*. I am so stoked to try out our new fancy-pants camera. We went to the Atwater Village Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday. Antz and I were sitting on the clueless couch trying to figure out the setting for the lens. We managed a few decent ones

We mastered the blurry portrait.

And now, the debut of my weekly belly photos, Antz made my sweet sign of course.

Top 3

My favorite one 🙂
I look summer-ry but it is freezing in L.A. and I had goosebumps! I went to my first prenatal yoga class last week. It was rad but I was so stiff and I everyone in my class was in their 30th week! I am going on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Thursday we are going to Paramount to see The Lovely Bones. I liked the book, not sold on the cast yet, but I do like Saoirse Ronan. We saw Precious last Monday, it was OK but the montages were corny and the whole plot pissed me off more than it made me feel empathy. Monique and Paula Patton were A-Maz-ing!
I am still looking for a French class and I am in search of a gnarly mobile. It’s a tough choice! My top 5 soon to come.
Adieu mon amis

Turkey Day Yumness 2009

The last time I saw my husband’s family was September for his Mommy’s birthday. That’s when we made the announcement of bebe. We reunited for Thanksgiving yummyness. I actually double-booked myself for Turkey day. I made plans to spend it with our best friends but we decided to make an appearance at Antz Mom’s. Good decision, the food was really good and everyone had questions about the pregnancy…”am I drinking enough water?”, “have you bought any maternity clothes yet?” I am and this weekend I bought my first nursing bras from the Gap.

Maria, my Mommy-in-law, maker of yummy goodness!

Me and my over-endulgence, hey it was Bebe’s first Thanksgiving!

A mere fraction of my hubby’s clan, note the yellow was just coincidental.
So, after many *cranberry toasts* and my husband eating seconds and two pieces of pie, we rushed off to our other family’s house, our BFFs Story & Chris for Thanksgiving round 2. Our friends Jess & Tom made a turkey wrapped in bacon and Story made side dishes galore. We had an exciting game of Taboo and watched Lord of the Rings *true nerds*
A first for us, not so keen on bacon with turkey
Our surrogate family, Story & Chris
It was a fun, stress-free, tummy busting Thanksgiving. I somehow willed myself to wake up at 4am the next morning and I almost joined the madness that is Black Friday but Antz convinced me to make my purchase online. Turns out to be a much better idea and I scored the package deal for $599.99 from Best Buy.com.
Nikon D3000 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera
I have been coveting a Nikon D90 but I think the D3000 is more economically sound to start with a beginner’s SLR.
I haven’t even mastered my Canon Powershot yet. I am more concerned with not dropping or scratching the camera. Friday night we went to Apple Valley to visit my Mommy. That’s where I truly got to enjoy my favorite Thanksgiving tradition, steak and Alaskan king crab legs! I spent the weekend warming my bum by the fire while my mom and Antz worked on tiling the floor of my Mom’s new bathroom. We are going next weekend to help finish. I can’t wait to spend next Thanksgiving with our bebe. Who knows, I may even cook!

Sing a song of sixpence, a pocket full of posies

I just realized I need to brush up on my nursery rhymes and songs. It has been a week since I wrote, but I can’t say it’s been busy. I have been stuck in a daily routine that is feeling quite monotonous. We bought tile for our front stairs this weekend and Antz will be taking Thursday off to work on them. I also got free tix for a screening of Fantastic Mr. Fox, a Wes Anderson film. I am just disappointed Anjelica Huston is not in it

Anjelica and Jeff Goldblum *my crush*

We are going to our first official Ob/Gyn appt. on Thursday. I scheduled the nuchal screening test for Nov. 24th. I feel like I’m on pause. I am too early for any fun preggo events. I have been taking naps everyday around the same time. I am looking forward to starting prenatal yoga next month. Hopefully I can figure out a way to get some weekly swimming into my activities *Keith & Tina’s house*. I feel a little blue because I would love to be starting some home reno projects to prep our house for sale and we can get into Atwater Village. Well, it’s not a bright idea to be around major work while I’m preggers. So maybe 2010 will be the year we move. Still craving a babymoon, I will have to book soon because after 20 weeks, no travel.

There is also a spa nearby. Not sure how great I would feel after a 6 hour drive but at least it’s close.  My lovely is making his amazing tacos for dinner so I shall leave you.

My face hurts from smiling so much!

OMG!! Today we saw the bebe moving!! Well actually dancing. I will try to upload the video

I went to St Andrews today to sign up for the Christening. It will be July 17, 2010. The hard part is choosing Godparents. We want Story & Chris but one parent must be Catholic. We and the Godparents have to attend a Baptism class in May. I don’t know if they will go. I am super tired today but too excited to sleep. I made our first prenatal appt. with our Ob/Gyn Dr. Teng. Last time I saw her was in January 2008 for my pap smear. Today was our last appt at HRC. I am sad to no longer see Dr. Evans. I had Antz get some Neopets toys for her kids and they gave us a gift for the bebe.

Last night Antz and I went for a walk in Little Tokyo. I wanted to buy the addidas for the bebe but of course they were sold out. Antz was like, don’t worry we’ll find them online. I looked everywhere but could only find green and navy. Finally out of nowhere I found the orange ones on Shoes.com. YAY! I bought them in a size 2 (3 – 6 months). So I made our first official bebe purchase 🙂

I am free!

Yesterday we went to the doc and I am now on modified bedrest. I still have some blood in my uterus but it’s getting smaller. I can now go out and do more activity but I still have to take it easy peasy. We heard our bebe’s heartbeat! OMG it was so loud and strong, 157 beats per minute. My numbers are great and growth looks good.

I am 8 weeks tomorrow and the embryo will become a fetus on the 27th. The umbillical cord is growing and the doc showed us our bebe’s head. I sent Gilli and Dr. Evans flowers and cookies today.

Today is my friend Chris’s birthday. I really want to go to the movies tonight but I heard mixed reviewed about Where the Wild Things Are so maybe we’ll see Paranormal Activity.

Call the wahbulance

Usually when I am overwhelmed and too busy to breathe I think of how wonderful it would be to lay in bed all day with nothing to do but relax. Be careful for what you wish for, I have been on bedrest since Monday and this is complete torture. My muscles ache, I missed out on dinner and movies with friends and I was supposed to help my friend with decorations for her Halloween party. Here’s the worst part of bed rest, the longer I’m in bed, the less sleep I get. I have never been more bored in my life. I took a crotchet class a while ago to learn to make a hat but I can’t remember how to do the stitch so I can’t work on it in bed. I know it’s for our baby’s health so I’ll stay put but I want some fresh air! I want to take my dog for a nice long walk. I want to go to the farmers market and sample fresh fruit. I want to buy pumpkins from a pumpkin patch. I want to go see Where the Wild Things Are. Thank God for my husband, he has been wonderful, catering to my every need, rubbing my feet, getting my favorite snacks. Hopefully all is good and I’ll be released from bed prision on Tuesday. I will never take being active for granted again.

Bed Rest Sucks

I am only on day 2 of bed rest and I hate it. I am usually lazy and I procrastinate on cleaning the house but I want to wash the dishes, do a load of laundry and swifter sooo bad. I guess it’s true you always want what you can’t have. I joined BabyCenter and Farmville so that’s helping the time go by. Antz brings me lunch everyday and that’s nice. I told him to bring me visitors so I should jump in my presentable PJs.

Me in my snuggie!

I have decided I want to be Rosemary Woodhouse from Rosemary’s Baby for Halloween

I’ll have to find a light blue nightgown, a fake knife and a short blonde wig. That’s going to be hard to find. I really wonder if my friends will have any clue of who I am. So, I just found out Goldstar has discounted Hollywood Bowl tix to see Ennio Morricone. Blast! He is my fave. What a bummer. I guess I can’t complain since I’m seeing the Gossip on the 26th *if I ever get off bed rest*. It’s been rainy and cold this week. Pretty bored, I never get bored! Grrr

Today’s the Big Day!

Do you like the new look? Antz designed my new header for me! 🙂

Today was our highly anticipated 2nd ultrasound. We saw the heartbeat!!! The little bebe had a strong flicker and growing beautifully.

There was some hemotoma so I was put on bed rest this week. 🙁

I am now tucked in by Antz, warm and comfy in bed watching old episodes of Bringing Home Baby. I am so relieved to know the heart is strong and our bebe is healthy. I have been having trouble sleeping but I’m sure it is anxiety. I had an amazing weekend. We went to Vinny & Natalie’s wedding and had a blast. I ate shrimp and garlic potatoes and they ran out of wedding cake so they brought our table strawberry cheesecake. Nat & Vinny were so cute, I totally cried during their vows. Story looked so cute *hair by Liz*.

The Gang

It was a really fun night. On Sunday I met up with my old friends from Starbucks at Kabuki (no sushi for me, of course). I hadn’t seen Tarah and Trisha for years. Tarah is in the process of converting to Judism before her wedding which I think is awesome. Trisha is going to nursing school so she is super happy.

Me & my bestie!
They were super excited about our pregnancy. I can’t wait till we send out the shower invites, it’s gonna be super fantastic.

Our First Ultrasound

We had our first ultrasound this morning. We got to see our little nugget. Disappointedly, we couldn’t see the fetal pole or the heartbeat yet. We did see the amniotic sac and my numbers are movin’ on up. Not seeing the heartbeat is mega lame but the doc says we’ll see it next week.

OUR BEBE!

We gave out our expecting cards last week. They turned out fabulous! I can’t wait to start designing the bebe shower invites.

Our friend’s Natalie and Vinny’s wedding is this weekend. Really looking forward to it and I already have something to wear. My shoes may be a problem being that even when I wasn’t preggo they murdered my feet. I am having dinner on Sunday with my old friends from Starbucks. We haven’t seen each other in years. Sucks we are going to a great sushi restaurant and I can’t have any. Today I went to Whole Foods to pick up some bebe-friendly food. I only got a box of spinach, salmon and apples. Antz cooked the salmon and I had a huge salad for dinner. Problem is I am still starving and craving french fries. I’m trying to be good.

So I found this incredible venue in downtown LA for the bebe shower. I got an email with the pricing and brace yourself, they want $4k just for Sunday. That’s not including catering! It is an amazing space

It’s more reasonable to stick with the orginal plan of having it at the W Westwood. It’s $4500 but that includes caterings, tables and chairs, AV use. The way our finances have been looking we will be having the party in good ole Highland Park. Yeah I know it sounds like a wedding budget but this is the last huge party I will be throwing for 18 years-well, 30 years if you count when our kid gets married.
