Rolling with the Homies

AS IF??!! So I am cracking up over this rad piece Antz drew of our friends. At first he drew just the 8 of us but our other friends saw it on facebook and got all sadface about not being on it so he did this awesome revision this morning.

*From left to right, top row: Warren, Me *I love that he gave me my fave hot pink lipstick although he hates it*, Antz, Story. 2nd row: Aimee, Keith, Leslie, Dave. 3rd row: Stephen, Kim, Maeve, Tom, Chris. 4th row: George, Nicolette, Alessandro & Jes.*

On another random note, I saw this on dlisted and I am in serious amazement at this chick’s makeup skills. I really thought she was Jared Leto!!!

Liv and I are jumping in the shower to get ready to have a fun *and spontaneous* Lazy Sunday

As we were getting Liv dressed, we wanted her to wear shoes but none of hers really fit *narrow feet* so Antz want her to wear her adiddas since they won’t fall off easily. I *being the pretend fashionasta I am* wanted her to wear her See Kai Run gold sandals since they match better. We had to take a pic to make the final selection.

Here’s the winner *my choice* I love the dress Carlos & Stephanie gave us…gotta run, going to Royal T for lunch *SUPER EXCITED!!*

Sushi, you are the best!

Today my Mommy came over to have lunch with us and she wanted *my fave* Tenno Sushi in Little Tokyo!! I LOVE that place.

SAKEEEEEE! Bonsaiiiiiii!!

*Wow, I have a serious eyebrow situation* I need to get them threaded asap!
I had sooo much yummy sushi and today’s eel was heaven.

Liv ate while we ate and since Mommy was distracted by my meal, she took matters into her own hands.

After we stuffed our gobs, we were actually able to walk through Little Tokyo and check out the shops. I loved these *knock off* Chanel glasses at Pop Killer

Then we popped into a new art gallery called Hung Up *snort* that had art by a guy Leslie knows. I LOVE this artist’s pieces *Dylan Ekren*

I Love anything sweet yet creepy. It’s very Pride & Prejudice & Zombies *which I hear will be starring Natalie Portman*.
So as I type this, I have *what my Mom calls* crocodile tears pouring down my face because I am super, mega bummed that our darling daughter will be 10 weeks old tomorrow. I know it’s a joyous occasion that she is growing up but dude, now she’s in double digits! I feel like this precious time is zooming by. Luckily, I have enough photos to document it because soon she’ll be going to school and I won’t know what to do with myself. Tomorrow I’ll have to find the perfect outfit for her 10 weeks pic but it’s weird that she no longer fits her 0 – 3 month clothes and her 3 – 6 months are fitting snug. I mean, what can I do buy her 12 month sizes?? Oh, and I haven’t bought her Uggs yet because I am still undecided if she’ll fit them by the tiem the weather gets colder. I asked my Mom her opinion and she says *as always* she doesn’t need them! Boo! All girls need shoes *even when they don’t fit*

Sooo…I have a new blog crush…Liz Owen of Mabel’s House is A-door-rah-bull!! I will get little sleep tonight stalking her blog. Seems like a bunch of blogstresses are preggo right now and my old friend just got married. Crazzy! I remember when she just met her then boyfriend, now HUSBAND! She converted to Judaism for him *super cool*. I really think *in my deluded mind* I was meant to be Jewish. I love to nosh, I have a mezuzah on my front door threshold *yesh, leaning the correct way* and I had a chuppah at my wedding

I also think I’m 13 years old, hence my wardrobe, make up and any number of my handbags *for example today’s jewel*

That’s right, I am an actual grown up…I can’t fathom what Liv will think when I drop her off at school and I’m blasting Justin Beiber in my Jetta. Btw I think I’m going to stop being lame and spend the $24.95 to upgrade my Flickr account. I have waay too many photos and no hassle-free options when people ask me to email them. I would prefer to view them in slideshow form anyway. Decision made, tomorrow it shall be done.

Mmmmm Good!

Wow, dinner tonight was terrific! I looked up a receipe for blue cheese burgers *a la Black Cow Cafe* and I seasoned and marinaded the meat. Antz came home and grilled to perfection and we had strawberry  margaritas with our fancy burgers and fries.

I am completely in love with these miniatures by this artist *Thomas Doyle*

So creative, so dark yet comical. I would love to buy some of his pieces but I’m sure they cost thousands. At least I can drool over his website. Antz is drawing at the moment for some freelance so we may go to New Orleans afterall.

Liv’s a Supermodel

Our gorgeous 7 weeker has had more pictures taken than most people have taken in their entire lifetime. I can’t help but get camera-hyper with her *Antz calls me Mommerazzi*. My Mom took tons of photos of me growing up but my Antz hardly has a handful of photos of himself in his younger days. I am hoping one day Olivia will appreciate us documenting her life as best we could. Last Wednesday I was on my own taking her weekly so I didn’t get that many poses. Here are the top 3:

As many photos as we have taken, I feel like they are pretty blah. I really want to showcase Liv’s personality, it’s difficult catching her glowing smile with the camera. I have always liked the commerical for the Amazon Kindle

This incredible blog has the same concept for her daughter. I love the idea of being able to pose Liv while she sleeps *so she is less fussy*

Now I need to visit the fabric store and put together our own masterpieces.
On another subject, we received *the much anticipated* invitation to Keith & Tina’s house for swimming and BBQ this Saturday. I am excited to teach Liv how to swim and Liv will meet Tina and our friend Maeve for the first time.

Signage

Hopefully I will make it through this post before Antz gets home. Olivia is upset with me today because instead of our usual flash cards *made by Daddy*

I changed up the curriculum by reading/spelling words from this book to Liv

She was not at all amused and has been fussy all day. I am only thinking of giving her a head start to win the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee!

So I stumbled across this adorable Bloggess from New Orleans. I am in love with her sign idea of 15 street destinations that have special meaning to her. I am thinking of re-vamping our menu chalkboard and creating a favorite destinations sign of our own. My only issue is where will it live? *we have run out of wall space in this house*.

My sign would most likely include:
1. Delmas Terrace *the street of our first apartment together*
2. Topanga Canyon *the street of the beach we got married on*
3. Dexter *our current street*
4. the street of the house I would love to buy
5. California *the street of the hospital Liv was born*
6. Atwater Village *the neighborhood we hope to move to/we spend alot time here*

I have to think longer for the rest of the streets/destinations. Sadly, Liv has been waking up from her nap screaming her head off for no apparent reason.

So once again I’m playing the waiting game with Best Buy. It seems the iPhone 4 in white may be available this Saturday, so I am going to line up early. I doubt it will be there but I need to get Aimee’s birthday present *a new Samsung phone* anyway. Her birthday is Sunday but we don’t have any plans with her yet. We are bringing her gifts to her house but she doesn’t want to celebrate, she’s bummed she’s turning 35. She asked Antz 2 years ago to paint her and Holden as Madonna & Child so he finished it last weekend.

I think it’s pretty rad except Holden isn’t as plump as the painting depicts. I know she’ll love it. She already has a painting by him of the Mona Lisa with her face on it and a couple of Van Gogh’s he painted for her.

Well, I have to make this fussy baby happy. Tomorrow I hope to post the bedroom makeover I’ve been working on in Photoshop.

Happy Anniversary…Antz big 10 years at work!!

Today is Antz 10 year work anniversary. That’s nuts, I know! He found the job while working at Aaron Bros and a co-worker told him about the place. I was totally skeptical because this was back in 2000 and I thought dot com businesses were unstable but 10 years later, a new house and now a new baby, it was the best thing that has ever happened to us. I am super proud of him, he is the second-longest employee at the company *the receptionist has been there 11 years*. I invited a bunch of people to lunch today at his fave restaurant, Sedthee Thai. So this morning the workers have returned. I really need them to finish by next week.
We went to Leslie’s art show in downtown LA tonight. She is Superwoman, she always has 30 things going on at once. It was fun, I am happy Jes was there so we could chat, she’s such a sweetie! I wish I could buy this apron but we honestly have no wall space left in this house.

I also want to buy this decal to put in the kitchen but we have to paint the wall first, the yellow that’s in there now is a bad paint job and pretty gross.

Happy Mommy’s Day!

Well, this is actually my first official Mom’s Day! We aren’t doing much but going to Ikea to pick up a side table for the living room. The best gift I have ever gotten is Olivia kicking and Antz rubbing my tummy. I am so full of love! *such a sap*. We spent last night with both our Mom’s at Diana Wong’s Art show

The show was in downtown LA at these old factory converted lofts. We brought Antz Mom with us. My Godfather Leon was there too. We only stayed for a few hours because I got the tireds.
All of us Mommy’s

We had a good time, my date was wonderful! I did learn a valuable lesson about batteries, whenever you need them, they die! We brought our flip but I couldn’t really use it because it was dark and there is no flash. We also brought the Nikon, BOTH batteries died 🙁 We had the Canon as a backup but for some reason the pics came out very dark and blurry. Just when I think I figured out how to use these gadgets, they fail me. Those are the only pics that came out ok. I wanted more of my Mom playing but she had too many lights behind her and that caused her to have a shadow on her.
I love you Mommy!! *circa 1977*

Antz has been working his little tail off all day finishing projects around the house. He is going to finish his list by tomorrow! He took all the stuff down to the garage so we can start cleaning the house. He figured out how to take down the curtains in the kitchen so we’re washing them now. He has been amazing with getting things done and letting me relax. I really have to get him a nice Father’s Day present *although he says Olivia is his gift*.

We’re Crafty!

*warning old people alert* I don’t know how we were so tired last night but we called it a night at 9:30 pm! We worked on the moustaches and man, oh man, they look awesome!! I was in charge of drawing templates and cutting out the felt ‘staches while Antz cut the foam ‘staches and added the stick. They are quite simple to construct but I was being neurotic about being precise in my cutting. So far we have 22 done so we are almost half finished. Hopefully they’ll get done today and I’ll start working on the celeb baby game board.

Finished the clothespins

Have I ever mentioned how rad it is to be married to a genuis artist? My darling Antz spent his morning and a chunk of the afternoon finishing Olivia’s *Sea Monster* painting. This was the preliminary stage and the finished work.

Hopefully you can see the details, it’s Capt. Olivia on the boat facing the *non* ferocious sea monster. I love her blue pirate hat. We totally will have a fearless daughter. I love it so much!!

We had to reconfigure the placement in the room. I originally wanted to put the painting behind the glider in the corner but it’s hidden there and when I’m sitting in the glider nursing her, I want to look at the painting. So now his Radiohead poster will go in the corner and his Mickey Mouse painting will go next to the hutch. I should be getting my pouf tomorrow so that leaves the glider, bassinet and her stroller *still waiting for the 2010 model to be released*. I feel like I am running out of time!! 7 weeks and counting.

Turn that frown upside down

Last night I ordered the delightful Sasquatch! Music Festival Poster see below. What a steal at $37! Today I get an email from the artist, Don saying he is sold out of that poster and he offered me a refund. Hmmph, I was totally bummed so I started looking on ebay and other sites for the poster. I found a site called Poster Caberet that had it for $46.75 so I bought it. Well within 5 minutes I got an email from Don saying he can print the poster on giclee for no charge *usually $50* and he’ll ship it next Tuesday. Antz told me to say yes because giclee looks way better than poster print, problem was I had already completed the purchase with Poster Caberet. So I called them and asked to cancel the order and the guy with super nice and said no problem. Now my nursery will look super rad!

Sasquatch! 2009 Music Festival Poster by Invisible Creature (SOLD OUT)

Antz is going to take it to Aaron Bros to have it professionally framed. I’m just concerned with how expensive that may be but it’s worth it. I am glad I found Poster Caberet because I found these 2 mini posters that I love.

Bjork Concert Poster by R. Black

So rad! and both are under $30 but I need more wall space. So this weekend we have our work cut out for us. We need to prime/paint the entire nursery, ceiling and all the trim and crown molding. We are going to start tonight. Antz wasn’t able to remove the hood/exhaust fan last night so hopefully the installers will know how to do it. We are still looking for an electrician and haven’t sold the TV stand yet. We also have a bookcase, side table and chair we need to either sell or donate. The house is looking a bit less disastrous and Antz woke up early and cleaned the floor of the nursery but we need to fix the gap that is showing from the carpet removal and the baseboards.

I don’t know how we can afford it but I really want to get the floors refinished. We’ll see how they look after some Murphy’s Soap scrubbing. My living room curtains have shipped out and I still haven’t found pillows for the couch. I really want the Karen Hilton Union Jack pillow but Antz doesn’t like them so much.

Karen Hilton Designs

He thinks the color is too bright for the room and at $80 each they are pretty expensive. I found these at CB2 but they feel a bit boring.

Maybe we’ll find time to go by there this weekend while the paint is drying. I usually prefer painting at night when it’s not so hot but the weather is cloudy and it may rain. Today I’m going to the container store to pick up some magazine bins so my magazines look more orderly.

I love this collection but from $9.99 – $19.99 I’m not 100% sold. I definitely need a new folder for my finances because this is the state of my current one. It’s falling apart at the seams.

I need a bigger binder and more folders, I could also use a labelmaker so I need to contain myself today because I go crazy when it comes to office supplies. I’ll post my finding later today.

Loves

Today is lazy Sunday, my Antz told me we are embarking on an adventure to take incredible photos around the city so I’m excited to post the outcome. Last week was stormy and rainy but this weekend has been sunny and the rain has washed away all the LA smog.

I took this Thursday afternoon, the view from my bedroom window

Sadly most of the snow has since melted.

Yesterday I did something extraordinary and I cooked not only delectable brownies for the first time but I found a Martha Stewart *her holiness* french toast receipe. Who would have known the key ingredient for yummy french toast is orange juice? My french toast came out unbelieveable! Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of my brilliant breakfast but I assure you it was most delicious. I have been enjoying cooking but our stove sucks and I need more counter space *as I’ve never before had to actually prepare ingredients for a meal*.

Before I get dressed I wanted to express my sincere devotion to the following;

1. Ampers&s! How rad are they?

2. How amazingly soft & fluffy my dog is since his bath yesterday

3. I love the bebe playlist I made in itunes for Olivia, last night I put the headsets on my belly and went to sleep so she could enjoy the tunes *I hope she got some sleep*

björk, radiohead, Billie Holiday, belle & sebastian, Yann Tiersen *Amélie soundtrack*, the Rolling Stones, Tom Waits, blonde redhead, Sigur Rós and Joanna Newsom are just a few of the artists

4. I am falling in love with my backyard again *despite the lack of grass* the rain did our garden well

5. This artist, Mandy Sutcliffe

6. I cannot get enough cocoa butter on my body *although it’s not winning the battle of stretch marks* the yummiest smell in the world

7. Baby elephants!!!

8. These pillows by Alexandra Ferguson *I must have them* from etsy

It’s time to go explore, I will upload this evening. Bonjour!
