Halloweeners

Yep, I am queen of the double entendres! So last night Antz massacred some fabric trying to sew together a monkey costume. The more he worked on it, the worse it became, it was not working. Poor baby, he kept asking me what I thought and I gave him one of these

*I LOVE that face!!* Aimee and I say that to each other like 500 times a day. So he went to bed a bit sadders about his lame costume. I kept telling him, he could always break out the Leprechon look if he can’t come up with anything. Well, my dear husband is King of throwing something random together, he was hell bent on being a monkey so he was up early putting together what he likes to call

“Monkey Business”
He made the banana, and borrowed my Uggs! *should I be bummed that my hubby fits my shoes*
Complete with tail, I don’t know how he does it, total MacGuyver move.

He just aimed me that noone at work knows who he is, they think he made the monkey head *he bought it from a Thrift shop last night* Haha, I think he looks very Paul Frank chic, he pulled it off *again, at the last second*

But to be honest we both know we could have done better this year. We usually go all out for Halloween but next year will be a family costume. Liv is wearing her fairy costume *hooray for laziness on my part*

I need to jump in the shower and start on my makeup, I will try to get as many pics as I can but Antz isn’t here to be my photographer *Boo!* I am going to Antz job early so I can take pics of the costume contest and then we are going to the Nick party. You’ll have to forgive me but Mixtape Friday may be delayed until tonight *My Halloween Hits*. Later Skaters!!

P.S. Thankies to my 9 lovelies, I appreciate you taking time to read about the chronicles of a dork like me!!

Halloween Costume dress rehearsal

Well, I am going to be a 1960’s housewife à la Mad Men. I wanted to keep it a secret until I was in full costume until I saw I blabbed about it here. Shows how well I can keep a secret. So, my vision was retro refinement. I pulled out my beauty school arsenal and instantly added 12 inches to my hair.

I wish my hair would grow this long *it was pretty full and long when I was a kid*
This is the look I was going for…
Yet this is closer to my result
I attempted to sew a petticoat of black tulle to give my dress more volume but it came out terribly. Antz convinced me to go without it. I am not so happy with the total look but maybe some crazy makeup and if I can find my fake cigarettes, I’ll resemble someone from the 60’s.
Gasp, I hope I don’t embarass myself *won’t be the first time* at least I am going for comfort over style. I have a pair of badass black pumps but I refuse to have my feet kill me and I don’t want to topple over while holding Olivia. Antz picked up a costume after work and he’s working his magic now. He sure knows how to make it work at the last minute.

Paranormal Activity 2 *was a bust*

Yesterday we went to Pasadena to use a gift card I got from the Right Start. Since we were in the area, we stopped by my favoritest store in the world *which of course is Anthropologie* to check out the kid’s clothing line. The saleswoman told me they always have kid’s clothes at holiday time so I know they are out for a limited time. Hopefully, I’ll score some good stuff on sale *which she won’t be able to wear for a few years*

Me having my typical Anthro freak out, I love to sniff everything!!!

It was so difficult to not buy everything in this corner!!

I love this hat for Liv!!

I tried to get my jump photo of the week but Antz couldn’t get a good one of me. I had to take one of him since he told me I needed to improve on my jumping skills. I am convinced it’s my photography skills that captured this awesome jump!

So we were looking for where to eat lunch and I wanted Bob’s Big Boy for brunch *that’s alot of B’s*
however Antz wanted Chipotle so I gave in. We hadn’t eaten there in a while and I wanted a quesidilla.

I can’t get enough slobber kisses!!

We finally bought the Fisher Price Vintage toys I’ve been wanting for some time now for Liv’s Christmas presents.

Since I had a gift card I was thinking of getting her a Bumbo seat but The Right Start only had a Bebe Pod by Prince Lionheart.

We had to put Liv in it because although the box says 3-12 months we along with the sales ladies agreed she’d definitely outgrow it by the time she was 6 months. We also made the discovery that based off of Liv’s height, she may be outgrowing her car seat soon than expected. I really like this convertible seat from Clek that we can take to London since it folds as a backpack and it got great ratings on Amazon.

I also picked up some Diaper Dekor refills and more Mustela moisturizer *love how yummy it smells*. As we were leaving Antz mentioned that they didn’t have any Yo Gabba Gabba! toys so I got the brilliant idea that we need to make an outfit for Liv to wear to the show in November. Crafty Antz said let’s go to Michaels and get some felt and I’ll make a Brobee shirt. We picked up the felt *for a whopping $3* and made it home in time for his sister Debra to arrive to babysit Liv.
We rushed to Paramount and just missed the first 5 minutes of Paranormal Activity 2 *but we didn’t miss much* We saw the first one and I thought that one was much scarier since it was original and we didn’t know what to expect. The second one was just a lot of the same with a lame ending. Almost everyone in the theater hung out until the credits were over expecting more to happen *a bunch of nothing, so I guess that leaves it open to a part 3, BOO!*
We went home and Debra had made spaghetti for us for dinner, so we ate and had some red wine *Yellowtail, I believe* and I made cookies. Deb hung out for awhile which was fun and we had a nice time. We had a chance to catch up on our DVR shows and made it to bed before midnight *hence no post last night* Another quite boring day in my life but I am perfectly content. I am smacking myself for slacking on sewing my fabric for my Halloween costume. I also just found out that not everyone from Antz job was invited to the party this Friday so we don’t know who will be there *LAME* If noone we know is going we just might slag it off and stick to our original plan of Trick or Treat on the BOOlevard in Atwater Village. Although, there is a high possibility that Nick Jr. characters *crossing my fingers Yo Gabba Gabba* may be at his company party and I can never pass up a photo op!! You know what’s sucks?? I had this Brobee pillow in my Amazon cart and today I checked it and the price went from $16 to $30!! *LAME TO THE MAX!!*

Pumpkin carving

Geesh, I have been so boring lately. Last night Antz carved our pumpkins and I was falling asleep as he did them. I need a boost, thank goodness I’m seeing Gilli Thursday because I have been drained of energy for weeks.

We started wanting to do a silhouette carving like in Martha’s Book but it looked better as a pair and we only had one large pumpkin.
I wanted to buy a carving set from Martha but Antz had a “whittlin’ set” my Mom gave him when we were in Apple Valley. Works like butter!!
Taking out the guts, so muh fun!
We decided to go with what we love, and we LOVE BROBEE!!!

Since I wanted my white pumpkin to last until Thanksgiving, we didn’t cut him. Antz drew a creepy face but it somehow ended up looking like Jay Leno *I hate that guy*

This guy was in a contest at Antz job a few years ago…best pumpkin ever!!
Not much happening this week. Today is volleyball *yay* and I’m dropping Liv at her Grandma’s house then going shopping for a few things. I really want to get my car washed but it’s been rainy so it’s staying dirty. Olivia will be 20 flippin’ weeks tomorrow!!!
Thursday I may drop by Aimee’s after I see Gilli since her son, Holden is in town *he’s getting braces*. Like I said, I’m boring!!

Olivia’s 1st Pumpkin Patch

Today of course was Pumpkin Patch day. I was so excited about it for weeks, I asked Antz to take the day off since I wanted to get tons of photos and I was convinced the weekend would be too crowded and I talked my Mom into coming with us. Well, despite my best efforts, I ended sleeping in too late this morning so I inadvertently missed out on Underwood Farms. When I got up *around noon* I felt nice and refreshed I decided to make blueberry muffins *since Aimee warned me that the fresh blueberries I bought a week ago may start to get moldy, yuck!*. Only took 20 minutes to bake.

I think I could have let them cook a bit more but they were delish nonetheless. My Mom tried one and said why is it white? Antz liked them but he said the tartness of the blueberries overwhelmed the muffin. Oh well, I was happy with the results. So as my muffins were cooling I rushed to get dressed and we left the house about 2pm. We had to drive all the way across town to pick up my Mom so by the time we got on the freeway it was 3pm rush hour traffic. I cannot stand being stuck in traffic on the freeway *particularly the 405 which was a total parking lot* so I suggested we forgo driving 2 hours to Moorpark and stay local and check out Mr. Bones in West Hollywood. My Mom and Antz were all for that plan so we got off the freeway and headed to WeHo. We got there in no time at all and I was super happy we changed our minds because Mr Bones was AWESOME!! I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

These signs cracked me up, it felt like we were in Japan!!
*Don’t whack off the pumpkin stems*
*No looking fabulous while midgets hold pumpkins*
*No mosh pitting on the pumpkins!*
*No chucking the pumpkins at ugly people!!*
I hate to be evil but Antz and I cracked up because one of the goats knocked that kid on his butt, he was fine…ok I’m going to hell!
As we were leaving we saw a swarm of paparazzi parked across the street.  God, they always look like such douchebags!!

We asked some of them who they were waiting for and they said HALLE BERRY!! I was super bummed we were leaving but who knows how long it would have taken for her to show up. I instead took the opportunity to be a tourist NERD and pose with the iconic Beverly Hills sign.

Since we were in the area I also wanted to take pics in front of this cool house that is known as the “Witches House” for obvious reasons.

Here’s my obligatory jump shot…my Mom was the photographer so I had to jump close to 50 times just to get this shot, she kept saying, ok jump and then 10 seconds later she would take the pic. She thought it was hilarious. I was waiting for the owner of the house to come out and whoosh us away from their property.

How fucking rad would it be to live in this house?? Complete with pond and bridge! So we headed home however *when my Mom & I are together we never just go straight home* we made a spontaneous stop at my 88 year old Godmother, Maria’s house since she hadn’t met Olivia yet.

Back in the day, My Godmother was STUNNING!! I used to play in her makeup and wear her Chanel No. 5 when I was a little girl.
This is my favorite photo of her…she was so 60’s chic, what a beauty!
She has a *signed* photo of my Mom in her living room, this is my Mommy circa 1980ish.
Antz and my Godmother’s baby, Princess. She was totally jealous of Olivia *most small doggies are like that*
So we finally made it home after stopping 3…yep, 3 places to pick up dinner. On the drive home Antz gave Olivia a bottle and my gifted, genius daughter took the bottle and held it herself the entire time. I am so amazed at how brilliant our kid is!!
We will be carving our pumpkins sometime tomorrow. I am going to finish my kitchen cabinet paper lining job by the end of this weekend *I promise*. I know I suck for not posting this week’s Mix Tape Friday but I got home so late tonight and it’s been a bitch to upload all these pics that I would be up until 3am. Next week will absolutely rock!!
LATER SKATERS!!

Sometimes I surprise myself with radness

I have a sweater, it’s my favorite sweater. I bought it 2 years ago from the Gap. This sweater has seen better days. I wore it all the time and didn’t treat my sweater with care. Then sadly one day, my favorite sweater got a tear. Ok, I am not a poet but here’s my story…I no longer wore the sweater, except around the house. Antz kept saying that used to be such a nice sweater. Then when I was at our newborn infant class I saw someone with my exact sweater. It made me sad because I buy nice things and then I ruin them and complain how I have nothing to wear. So this morning I did the unthinkable. I repaired my sweater all-by-myself!

Please forgive my ratty hair, I was so excited, I forgot what a mess I looked!

I hand sewed the holes, I washed it in fancy detergent and I can now happily wear my sweater out of the house again. What is this new found domesticness? Have I settled nicely into the role of housewife & doting mother? I am the same girl who pulled all-nighters at clubs in Hollywood. I quit a job because I was hungover from a party I threw for my best friend. I would eat dinner from 7-11. I am so not used to being a grown up. 🙁

My Mommy is here now and we are meeting Antz for lunch at Sedthee…

Liv is 19 weeks today…!!!

Our favorite Thai restaurant
Antz was convinced Liv could sit in her own chair
Yum!!! Chicken satay.

So lunch was great, we got there just after the working folks crowd *so we basically had the place to ourselves*. I ordered seafood pad thai noodles for my Mommy but she really didn’t like it, she should have stuck with her usual, lamb chops. Antz and I stuffed our faces in 10 minutes and my Mom had barely started eating *we are super greedy!!*

Antz had to go back to work so we dropped him off and I tried to talk my Mom into going to Fair Oaks Pharmacy but she didn’t want any ice cream, maybe I’ll go with Aimee tomorrow. So when we got home she had to leave and Liv and I have been hanging out in the nursery ever since. She was extremely good today. I tried to pump a bottle for her lunch but sadly I only got a measly 1 1/2 ounce so I am back to drinking the Mother’s Tea. Antz wants me to make an appt with Gilli to get her advice so maybe I’ll go next Monday. I am sort of bummed because we’d planned to take Liv to trick or treat on the Boolevard in Atwater Village on the 29th but today Antz got an invitation to a Halloween party at his job on the same day.

I know his job will be more fun since all our friends will be there but I love hanging out in Atwater *I remember so many years of wishing we had a baby to take to all the Atwater events and now that I have Liv, we have missed out on so many activites*. Oh well, I guess there’s always next year and I suppose it would be better to go when we actually live there. I really dislike when it gets dark earlier but I’m happy for Halloween to get here because I’m super excited about my costume *it’s top secret*

October Nights

We just got back home from our evening walk in lovely Atwater Village. We are definitely going to get back into our walking routine *and volleyball every Tuesday*

It was pretty nice, we watched a salsa aerobics class at the Beathouse dance studio

and we peeked in the window of Woof to check out their Halloween decorations.

Antz asked me if I wanted my eyebrown’s waxed..

We saw a cute house a decked out in Halloween decor and I loved their pumpkins *Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi, so rad!!!* Sorry the pic looks so lame, I had to use my iPhone because I left the Nikon at home 🙁

I wasn’t ready to go home just yet so we drove around town with no particular destination. I love driving on the outskirts of downtown LA and seeing the silhouette of the buildings. The Eastern Building is my favorite. We ended up in Echo Park *one of the first places we looked for houses 4 years ago* and I felt so relieved we didn’t buy in that neighborhood. It’s not close to Antz job, there’s high crime, it’s not as family friendly as our area. Driving along the pumpkin patch seemed to find us

Aren’t those pumpkins rad?? So we drove towards downtown and we happened to pass Bob Baker’s Marionette Theater. OMG! I completely forgot that I’ve been wanting to take Olivia to a show there since I got preggers. This place has been around for over 50 years and it’s endangered at the moment *boo* There is a Halloween show going on so we have to take her one of these upcoming weekends. It’s a good thing we found it because it’s really hidden and I wouldn’t have thought about it. So we came home to our newly decorated graveyard and it looks pretty fucking sweet!!

I know some of the shots are blurry but I was trying out different settings on the camera and it’s hard to get a good shot of lights at night. I still need pumpkins and I want an awesome scarecrow! I wanted to humor myself by trying out the new cookie brownies *not expecting much* and I totally surprised myself *AGAIN* I am getting pretty stellar at baking!!

I woke Antz up to taste them and he gave me a sleepy thumbs up. I even added white chocolate chips *I can’t get enough of them*. I’m going to send a bunch to work with him tomorrow to give to friends. Olivia has a pediatrician appt. in the morning *more vax* so I need some shut eye.

This is Halloween

Today is the day we are setting up our house for Halloween *YAY*. I went to Target to check out the new Halloween decor and was disappointed in the selection. The only thing I liked *which Antz doesn’t* was the glitter skeletons and pumpkins in black

He says it’s too Disco looking but I think it looks chic! I am pawing through my Goddess Martha mags getting ideas and I so ready to buy some pumpkins and decorate them

I also found this rad blog that I am stealing every baking recipe for this month!!
He just went downstairs to the garage to bring up the decorations. I want to do something different but because some of the pieces require a cord, we are stuck putting them in the same positions every year

2008

2009

Here’s today’s current progress:

Cool, I found my folder of pictures from our past Halloweens….I think it was 2007 when we were the bride & groom. We went to the West Hollywood parade *total madness* and we posed for tons of pics *everyone said we were super creepy *yay* and we were interviewed for the news.

Anthony dressed as a werewolf for work but changed into a dead-groom later. Yes, that is his REAL HAIR not a wig!!

Waiting for trick or treaters *we don’t get that many because we live on a hill. I scared the shit out of little kids!

This is West Hollywood on a normal day, lol!

That was a fun Halloween. I am super excited for this year. Antz just gave me an app for my phone that tracks your daily calories, activities and creates a profile of your progress. I guess I’ll start it today…? It basically does the same thing our Wii Fit does but it’s convenient because it’s portable and I can use it when we go out to eat. I hate DIEting and counting calories but as Antz and I were puffing while walking up a small hill last night we really want to get into better shape so we can keep up with Liv as she gets older. I think I’m the perfect amount of lazy but I do want to get back to my wedding weight *this is why I NEED a pool*. I need to go help Antz with the decorations but I have to post this silly video of Liv and her Dad playing this morning.
Wow, I’ve been downstairs cleaning out the trunk of my car and my video is still uploading! The state of my trunk has been very embarrassing especially since I am using it several times everyday to lug her stroller. I was so mortified of the condition of my trunk I refused the car wash guys to open it so they wouldn’t make fun of my disgustingness. A few weeks back Antz threw all his random shit from his car into my trunk and it’s been chaos ever since.

Here’s my dirty secret, I am a trunk HOARDER!! Need a flashlight for an emergency *with dead batteries*? come see me. Oh who’s the umbrella queen that has 3 in her trunk? *I could really use one of them in the house the other day* and one that is broken, this girl! Looking for a cozy pair of gross hospital socks, I’m your man. I had over 6 canvas totes for shopping and I NEVER remember to use them so I end up with thousands of plastic bag *kinda defeats the purpose right?* Doesn’t everyone need 3 yoga mats in case an emergency yoga class should occur? Oh and I actually keep the interior of my car meticulously neat and clean *my baby goes in there* so I hate finding used q-tips *thanks to hubby* and candy wrappers *I’m the guilty one there* under my seats so I bought a cute Hello Kitty mini trash bin to solve the trash problem. Well, it turns out there is nowhere to store the guy and I was afraid it would get broken so it’s been living in my trunk still in the box!!! Here’s my after shot, it’s not as clean as I’d like but I need to get my car washed anyway so I’ll have my trunk vacuumed this time.
You know what I find ironic? I have the complete opposite problem with hoarding in my car in my freezer. It’s ridiculously bare *with exception to my gluttoness ice cream; Haagen dazs bars, ice cream cookies and fruit bars*
Well, I am thinking about baking something today. We may go to Target *if I can convince Antz to get that black glitter set* and grab a late lunch. I hear hammering and use of tools so I’m curious to see what hes up to on the porch, I’ll post the results tonight. Ok I got eager beaver, here’s the finished look *Kudos to Antz who sadly had to do the work himself this year because I was on bebe duty, nice job!!*

Me = Genuis maker of POG!

I cannot stop drinking my yummy concoction of Passionfruit, Orange and Guava juice. So yummy, I just hate that I have to buy 3 seperate drinks to make it. So I spent the day hanging with my Mommy. My car is all better from getting serviced but when I went to pick it up I left my wallet at home so I had to drive all the way home and back to pay for it. Boo! My Mommy and I had lunch at The Kitchen in Pasadena. It’s a delish Italian restaurant and the food is so huge. I can’t even finish half of my lasagna. I took my Mom to the mall to return some shoes and I was stopped in my tracks at Nordstrom when I saw these beauties

Of course they fit narrow on my swollen feet and ankles but I squeezed my cankles into to them. I have no idea if I would be able to zip up the back. I just love the stones and they would look so great with my bebe shower dress. I am trying to figure out how to fit them into my budget but $119.00 isn’t appearing under any pillows.
I attempted a mood board of my shower outfit but it’s too embarrassingly lame I shall spare you. I will post this  incredible dress made of vintage maps! Why can’t I make creative things like this??

So browsing online tonight I stumbled across this guy at *of all places* Cost Plus World Market

Now I passed up the glockenspiel at Urban Outfitters so I feel like this would be a mistake to not buy for Liv. It’s only $20 and so adorable. If only I could find her a little harp too. I am still waiting for UPS to deliver my packages so keep your fingers crossed tomorrow I’ll get my Flip. I signed up for our childbirth/Infant Care classes at the hospital. I can’t believe I waited so long and now most of the classes are full. I am lucky to get anything in April. Antz just sent me this freaking rad Halloween costume that I must either find and purchase or ask his Mom to make for Olivia

The tights, the See Kai Run Mary Janes and the costume, so my favorite!!

Halloween Shenanigans

I am surprised this year we got quite a few trick-or-treaters. Last year we had one lone Vampire and he completely cleaned us out. I was not at all impressed by these kids costumes. Superman PJs? Scream, generic plastic masks and one kid was Neo from the Matrix *what is this 1996*.
Well, my costume wasn’t that creative this year as well. I went with comfort over style.

Rosemary Woodhouse & Waldo “Stephan”

Antz looked great!
We went to Leslie’s Party and had a great time. Their house looks amazing.

The Hosts Leslie & Stephan

Keith & Tina
Chris as Nosferatu
Antz painted these
Halloween isn’t complete without A Nightmare Before Christmas

They just put in pavers and sod.

We had a really fun time. Today we are having a lazy Sunday and Antz is going to make his delicious tacos. I’m watching the first Night of the Living Dead. We saw Paranormal Activity on Friday. It was scary but too unrealistic for me. Antz was really scared. I can’t wait until next Halloween when our little one will be with us!
