Feather Fiasco Averted

So Antz and I opened the feather package while holding our breath, I was so worried the vases would be chipped or cracked. They are fine, much taller than I thought. The feathers look totally small in person. I asked Antz to make a sample centerpiece and it’s BEAU-TI-FUL!

Our centerpieces will love just as nice as these.

He only used 19 feathers so there would be 6 more in the centerpiece. We are going to put small rocks inside the vase to weigh them down. My only concern is the feathers blocking the guests at the table, but they may be tall enough.
So Antz called the noise abatement number to report our *dumbass* neighbors for playing their lame music so late. We want to establish a history of them disturbing the peace long before the shower. The sucky part is 15 minutes after he called, they stopped as if they knew we called the cops on them! Super bummer. Now we look like we are crying wolf. How do we get them reported if they always stop right before the police arrive?? I want them to get fined so they stop playing. 🙁

We’re Crafty!

*warning old people alert* I don’t know how we were so tired last night but we called it a night at 9:30 pm! We worked on the moustaches and man, oh man, they look awesome!! I was in charge of drawing templates and cutting out the felt ‘staches while Antz cut the foam ‘staches and added the stick. They are quite simple to construct but I was being neurotic about being precise in my cutting. So far we have 22 done so we are almost half finished. Hopefully they’ll get done today and I’ll start working on the celeb baby game board.

Finished the clothespins

Have I ever mentioned how rad it is to be married to a genuis artist? My darling Antz spent his morning and a chunk of the afternoon finishing Olivia’s *Sea Monster* painting. This was the preliminary stage and the finished work.

Hopefully you can see the details, it’s Capt. Olivia on the boat facing the *non* ferocious sea monster. I love her blue pirate hat. We totally will have a fearless daughter. I love it so much!!

We had to reconfigure the placement in the room. I originally wanted to put the painting behind the glider in the corner but it’s hidden there and when I’m sitting in the glider nursing her, I want to look at the painting. So now his Radiohead poster will go in the corner and his Mickey Mouse painting will go next to the hutch. I should be getting my pouf tomorrow so that leaves the glider, bassinet and her stroller *still waiting for the 2010 model to be released*. I feel like I am running out of time!! 7 weeks and counting.

Still Takin’ Care of Baby Shower Biz!

Last night we went to Paramount Studios and saw Alice in Wonderland. I give it 2 stars, totally lame. Antz practically slept through the whole thing. This morning we went to breakfast at House of Pies with Antz sister, Debra.

After yummy cinamin raisin french toast, we went to Michael’s so we could choose our yarn since Debra is knitting a blanket for Olivia. It was hard to choose but we came up with a striped pattern and chose these colors.

Antz and I found the materials to make our handlebar moustaches and the sticks. I am super excited to work on them today. I also am going to work on the baby celeb board but I need to find pics of the babies without their parents in them. *People.com will be heavily utilized* After that we went to Ikea so we could buy the Fabler canopy for the tables and we bought a stuffed animal holder. I saw this cool idea for Olivia’s toddler room. How adorable are these frames?

I picked up a cute pot on a whim for the plant in the living room. I love how it brings much needed pop of color to the room. I smile whenever I walk by, the plant even looks happier.

Antz installed the curtain tiebacks and they look awesome.

They are bigger than I thought, but they show up better too so I love them for $24!! I’ll post the moustache and celeb baby game results later.

TCOB! *Taking Care of Baby Shower*

Yesterday my BFF, Aimee and her son Holden came to visit. They loved the nursery *of course* and we went to have dinner and dessert at a diner in Alhambra. We had fun!

After they left we starting working on Bebe Shower tasks. Antz did the first round of namecard stickers and put them on the takeout boxes. They look AMAZING!!

I love them!! Even though they are small they look adorable. He thinks the boxes aren’t big enough to hold leftovers but it’s ok. Hopefully everyone will eat all the food so we’re not stuck with tons of rice. I started making the ribbon for the clothespins. I like the colors and the curling I did isn’t wow-ing me. Antz thinks they look ok and at least it’s something.

We figured out how to use the Fuji camera and I took a test shot of Antz on the couch. We love it! It does take a while to develop but they are super cute.

*Yay our new curtains!!*
Today I run more errands, back to Target to exchange my slippers. Grocery shopping and hopefully I’ll get the baby bottles in the mail today. Tonight we are going to Paramount Studios to see Alice in Wonderland *sadly not in 3D* oh well, we haven’t been to the movies since Wolfman which I didn’t like so much. I am a bit bummed and annoyed that I’m not getting more RSVPs. So far, I have 7 confirmed guests. It bothers me that people get such an awesome invite but don’t immediately respond. It’s far enough in advance for them to block that day on their calendar. I really don’t want to have to call each person on May 1st to get them to confirm. It also holds up our favors production. So many people were asking me about the shower, yet no word now that they have the invite 🙁
Arrgh! Why is my cat the only one who knows when I get a package. I have so many things scheduled to be delivered today and the mailman NEVER rings my bell! My cat hurried into the bedroom with her ears back and hid in my closet. That is the only way I knew someone must be at the door. Of course it was my baby bottles.

They are quite small so I am hoping we don’t get multiple winners. I need to make sure they will all fit on the tray we bought to pass them out on. It’s funny these photograph orange but they are red.

Busy bee as ever

I went to Tarjay and returned the ink. I feel like such a doof because it clearly says on the package we bought, Not for HP Photosmart Plus and it also says photo ink. So I got the right one this time, only $1 more per box 🙂 I bought some adorable slippers to wear at the hospital but again, I have to exchange them because they are too small. I totally thought slippers were one size fits all!

I found everything I needed, I bought rug pad tape since the rug is round we can cut it and add it along the edges. I got needles for our bike pump to inflate my birth ball. I bought curling ribbon to decorate the clothespins, I like the color palette I found.

I found exacto knife blades and while I was in the scrapbooking aisle I got a bigger book since Antz was saying the one I bought is too small and wouldn’t hold our invites and keepsakes.

I like the darker color and larger photo of the smaller album but we need more room to put everything in the larger one. Besides, Antz is going to use the glittery letters I bought to make it look circus-y. Speaking of circus, this morning we were listening to the movie soundtrack station on our DVR *I know, total nerds* and we heard this awesome Franz Ferdinand song from the Alice in Wonderland soundtrack. I love how old-timey it sounds and I can add it to the playlist for the half hour *greeting guests* time to play inside the house. So far this is the playlist

We are giving a gift to the first guest that arrives and waiting on the front porch to hand each guest a clothspin and let them wander the house until lunch is served at 1pm. I went to Beverages and More and bought more Sofia Coppola white wine and a 6 pack of San Pellagrino sparkling water. So besides the yarn wreath, flowers the day before the shower for the house *hopefully I’ll find peonies* and this weekend we are going to Ikea to buy the Fabler canopies to cover the food and dessert tables, I am all done with shower shopping! Just waiting for more RSVPs to come in so I can get a finalized count for the catering and chair rentals. Everything is coming along beautifully!! *knock on wood*

We made it to the BIG TIME!!

I got my usual daily email from CasaSugar and what is the top featured story of the day? Our *Whimsical* nursery!!! Good Grief, if I knew it would be featured I would have used much better pics of us and the room. I am so proud of us! Seriously, we put so much work into that room and I love hearing positive feedback. I am so bummed my glider isn’t ready so the room would be complete. Antz needs to finish his painting so we can hang it.

Revamping-Babys-Room-Office-Turned-Whimsical-Nursery

So I got a buzz on the door and it’s Mr UPS with my new camera!! I ordered it Monday and it’s already here. Why can’t everything be like that. It’s mega cute, all the instructions are in Japanese but luckily there are pictures to depict what’s going on. I got 2 5pks of 10 film so that’s 100 pics.

Last night while Antz was printing the namecard stickers the printer ran out of black ink. Well he tried to use the ink we bought as backup and *lame* it’s the wrong size. It says 564 black but it has triangles on it and we need 564 black with a hexagon. Way to confuse us HP! So back to Target I go to exchange it. I needed to go there anyway because I finally came up with an idea on how to decorate the clothespins. I also need to buy Antz more exacto blades since all the cutting has dulled his. I’m going to look for a rug pad too for the rug in the nursery, it’s pretty slippery in there. I can’t stop smiling about our Lil Sugar feature. My friend Mia was featured on there a few months ago for her baby’s *gorgeous* nursery and I was thinking she is so stellar! I suppose we belong in the Stellar Club too now. Once the room is done I am hoping we get featured on Ohdeedoh. That would be MAJOR!

I truly am Violently Happy today

Nothing is better than hearing our daughter’s heartbeat! We went to our prenatal appt today and her heartbeat was 140. My uterus is measuring at 34 inches and I have LOST 3 lbs since March. I don’t get how I seem to lose weight, I feel like all I do is eat and drink POG juice. I have been running around and working on the nursery so I suppose that was the trick. We stopped at the post office to pick up a package they tried to deliver yesterday. It was just what I thought, our black take-out boxes.

They are much smaller than I thought they would be but we can make them work. They are made of plastic so that will be good enough for guests to take home leftovers. Tonight Antz will print the guest’s name stickers. I am so anxious to get all the RSVPs!!
So after our doc appt., I went to Old Navy to exchange a dress. This is the one I got

Pretty comfy wear-around-the house dress. My favorite new dresses are the one I wore today and this striped dress/tunic.

When I finished making the exchange I picked up Antz from work and we had lunch together. Then I went to Nordstrom and picked up my shoes and some socks for Liv. I thought I bought the wrong color sandals but I looked online and I think the ones I bought are right, they just have different colored stones than the one I tried on. I tried them on again but still haven’t zipped them up. I have a pair of sandals that zip in the back that Antz had to help me zip after lots of pulling and struggling. Now I can zip them up myself no problem so I am hoping I can break these in by May. I still love them

I finally made it home *so tired* and tried on my Tom’s and OMG I love them!! They are majorly rad and comfy. I can’t believe it took me so long to get a pair. They have arch support and feel like socks.

They look ten times better in person. I put away all my new maternity clothes, I am feeling like I bought too many nursing tops but hopefully by July, I’ll be glad I did. I seriously needed new tops. I also got some jackets and a cardigan since my old ones looked pretty ratty. I am so done on clothes shopping *for me at least* I still need to buy Olivia’s Uggs, her bumblebee anklet and her Tiffany’s brush. I need to order the babywrap, and a few more shower items. I am hoping only 45 people RSVP so I can cut back on chair rentals and food so I can fit the caricaturist into our budget. I still need to put together the celeb baby board game and buy the awesome yarn wreath for the front door.

It’s a Straw!

Today I only got one lousy package but this was a good one. I got my retro striped straws. However, Antz pointed out to the *pregnant minded-me* they are paper straws. I am taking a chance and mixing them with the straws the dispenser came with. Color palette wise, I think it works, I’m no longer sweating the small stuff.

I lucked into a brillant shower idea during a chat with my girl Mia, she told me at her shower she had an artist draw baby caricatures of the guests. He works with Antz and said he would do our shower for $150 for 2 hours. I am all over this idea!! Now I need to squeeze him into the budget *I refuse to go a penny over budget*. I am also trying to figure out an alternative to the pom poms in the lemon tree. Maybe Antz can whip up something lovely.

So far Antz Mom, sister, nephew, Story and Chris have RSVPed for the shower. Aimee is coming over with Holden on Thursday and she said our invites are fucking rad and she wishes she was our daughter!! 🙂

I am the queen of online ordering

Today I gave my credit card a workout. I placed several online orders and I still have a bunch to go. I am most excited about the tazi moroccan leather pouf and the Fuji instant camera orders.

I also ordered some clothes for Olivia
MilkShop

Vans

See Kai Run *they sold out of the Monica’s my fave 🙁 *

My hospital Gown *Baby Be Mine Maternity*

Tomorrow I may order these argyle socks for Olivia, my bebe shower sandals and tom’s shoes from Nordstrom since I’m going to Old Navy to exchange a dress. I can order the stuff online and pick it up in the store the same day.

Most excited to get all these goodies in the mail! Well, today Antz sent me an idea for a wreath he wanted to put on Olivia’s nursery door. KnockKnocking

Like, Oh My Gawd! These wreaths are AMAZING! I really want to buy this one

I want to add letters that say Welcome Friends and when she is born we’ll change it to say Welcome Olivia!
Here’s a sample of the lettering

I want to put it on the front door *we desperately need a new one* and put a Hello Kitty No shoes please sign on her door. I am trying to figure out a budget that allows me to buy all the things on my ever-growing list of home decor. I need new cookware, the fireplace screen, candle holder, couch pillows, new doormat, and the delish spring wreath. Antz is convinced he can make the wreath himself but I cannot doubt his DIY-power.

Yawn, I’m an beyond tired but I’m gonna make it throught this post

It’s ironic how drained I feel because last night was the first night I slept all the way till morning in months. I really think we both had a nice, long night’s rest because our house is now clean and clutter-free. We both even slept in this morning, I woke up at my usual time 8:30 but we both stayed in bed until 9. This morning I finally got an email from Monte Designs about the shipping of my glider and bassinet. They said it takes 6 weeks before they ship it *I suppose they have to actually make the chair* and then an additional week to deliver it. Based on the day I ordered it, it may be delivered the day before the shower. LAME to the max!!
On the way to acupuncture I dropped off the invites at the post office. I was a bit worried since it rained this morning, I didn’t want them to get wet but by noon it was sunny and bright, although a bit windy. I hand delivered Gilli’s because I wanted to see her reaction. Of course, she loved it and told me my husband is so clever. She told me she wasn’t sure if her husband and sons would make it but she would come for sure. I still need to order the Fuji instant camera before it sells out on Amazon. After Gilli, I went to Antz sister’s store *Bed, Bath & Beyond* to ask her about ordering some pots and the fireplace screen. I found a 14 piece set that I like by Martha Stewart at Macy’s that I like better for less money and after seeing the Calphlan set, I don’t think I’ll order from BB&B.

I went to Target and bought shipping labels *for the name cards*, a 5-pack of onesies for the guests to decorate and a plastic straw dispenser. I went to lunch with his sister at Coco’s and ate like I had never eaten before. I definitely have my appetite back. I even took home a piece of oreo cheesecake. Driving home, I stopped off at Smart & Final to look for some black serving forks and spoons. I found a 9 piece set for $5. When I got home I had a box from Gap waiting for me. I was so tired I could barely carry the box into my bedroom. I opened a few of the packages and I see they sent me the wrong dress so I’ll have to go to the store tomorrow and exchange it. I may buy the Sam Edelman sandals while I’m at the mall. I am honestly exhausted so I’m calling it a night at 7:30. Nighty Night!
