Hoppy Easter!

Last night we dropped by Story & Chris’s to check out their new front yard rock wall and entertainment center. They had been working on their house for the past month and everything looks amazing. I didn’t think the rock wall would be as nice as it turned out. Their next project is getting a hot tub and painting the exterior of their house. We went to my favorite pizza place, Round Table and watched the It’s Always Sunny Christmas Special. I took a pic of their cat Turbo and check out the demonness.

This morning we finished printing and addressing the bebe shower invites. I was so nervous my handwriting would look lame after all the practice envelopes I tried but Antz made a template for me to use and I think they came out pretty gnarly.

I am so excited for everyone to get them. I am hand delivering Gilli’s tomorrow so I can see what her reaction is. After we finished the invitations, Antz and I cleaned up the house since Story & Chris were coming by to peek at the nursery. They arrived around 4 and we decided to cook spaghetti dinner for everyone. Antz made homemade lemonade and we made a meatless sauce for Story *the veggie*. They really enjoyed it, Chris had seconds! 🙂

Our house feels a thousand times better with the new curtains in the living room. Antz cleared out all the tools and storage.

It’s supposed to rain tonight so Antz put almonium sulfate in the yard. I am hoping it helps the bald spots grow in.

A Good Friday

This Sunday is Easter, we don’t have any big plans. We may go to St. Andrews Church but haven’t decided yet. Last night I crashed early while Antz was still printing the quiz. I made a mock up of the map/directions. I need Antz to figure out how to make namecard/stickers to put on the take-out boxes. I had a miserable night, I woke up at 4am and felt crampy in my tummy. I thought I was hungry so I had some pineapple. I told Antz I didn’t feel well and he rubbed my back. I didn’t fall back asleep until almost 6. Today Mr. UPS came early before Antz left for work and I thought he would have my Gap order or the mattress but it was just the accordion and goldfish kite.

Fed Ex came shortly afterwards with the plates and napkins order.

Still so many things to be delivered. I have no idea when the glider is coming but I did get an email from them saying they sell the lumbar pillow seperately for $35. I am considering getting an orange one. I went on my weekly errands and took back the accordion at Cost Plus World Market. I wanted to get a straw dispenser but they didn’t have them. I looked around for shower supplies and I found this for the Izze sodas/ice bucket and matching tray for the baby bottles.

I hope I can fit them all in our refrigerator. I browsed the pillows and saw these 2 I like.

I like this candle holder for the fireplace but it looks a bit small.

I need to measure our hearth. I went to Michaels to get foam board for the baby celeb match game and find a scrapbook for the photos. I like this one even though it has plastic sleeves.

Well, I have a serious case of the tireds so I’m going to try to take a nap.

Would you like to try a Sample?

This evening my honey called me to let me know on his way home he was picking up cardstock for our printing and stopping by a thirft store to look for the menu frame. No luck on the frame but he did find this treasure.

He knew he couldn’t pass this up for $10 bucks! He is going to polish the chrome and I’m going to find fabric to use as a seat cushion. We aren’t completely sold on if we are going to give it to her because I had this tricyle in mind

It’s from Restoration Hardward for $179 and totally adorable. I’m sure Antz could make the one he bought look awesome. So today I was searching for the swan top Jessica Alba’s daughter was wearing but no luck.

I left a comment on People.com asking if anyone knew the designer and I checked Etsy but I only find Bella Swan from Twilight shirts. 🙁
While I was on People.com I saw this adorable pic of Nicole Richie and Harlow.

She is starting to be my favorite celeb tot in place of Apple Martin, she grew out of her adorableness.
I love that she is always sporting See Kai Run shoes and I plan to buy 3 pair for Olivia.

Love these the most!
We are working on shower printing now. Antz printed the sample invite *which we are having printed double-sided at Kinkos on glossy paper* to test the placement and resolution. I am so stoked about his design!! I am not so stoked about my handwritten address. I like the white pencil on the black envelope but it feels too elementary school and I had to ask Antz to draw lines to keep my spacing straight. Problem is Antz can’t print them in white ink so we either print them in another color or use my so-so handwriting.
Oh, I got a UPS package today but sadly it wasn’t my glider, mattress or Gap order but just my birth ball. Antz has to find the needle for our bike pump so he can blow it up for me. Hopefully, I’ll get one of the 3 tomorrow. I actually tracked the mattress and it’s still in Ohio and I may get it on Saturday.

I am the April Fool!

I cannot think of a good gag to pull on my hubby because I am totally scared I’ll jinx myself. Oh well, hopefully today I’ll get a few packages in the mail *Cost Plus kids accordion, goldfish kite and part of my Gap order*. Once I get the Cost Plus order I am returning the accordion I bought, since my friend Ale gave me one for my birthday.

I didn’t buy the mocassins and socks yesterday which is good because I need to stay on budget and focus on upcoming events *like buying my baby shower sandals*. Yesterday we went to dinner at The Kitchen Italian with Antz sister Debra for my belated birthday. It was quite yummy and I surprisingly ate alot, garlic bread, lasagna and a piece of cheesecake. We told Debra about our shower plans and she is onboard to pick up the food at PF Changs. She peeked at the nursery and loved it! I can’t wait for her to see it finished. So last night my dearest printed some samples of the shower activities. I think it came out well but we need to buy thicker paper.
Here is the concept:

Here’s our design

I think this will work perfectly. Still not sure if we are going to do the *family tree* idea yet. Last night I was checking out Snippet & Ink and looking for cool beach pose ideas for the pregnancy shoot. I definitely want to steer away from the traditional stuff I’ve seen before. I want to take a few of us with our felt moustaches so it will intergrate with the shower. I hope we find the frame this weekend. Maybe tonight we’ll go to kinkos to have the invites printed. Ideally, I’d like to send them by Saturday.

Shall I? or shan’t I?

I am so tempted to buy shoes/socks from J. Crew today. They are having a 30% off sale and I’ve wanted these shoes since last fall.

The problem is I have a pair of moccasin booties in brown and Antz hates them. He thinks they make me look *squat* was his word. I badly need these socks!! I adore the mocassins and today is the last day of the sale but I need to buy my baby shower sandals first *so worried my size will sell out*.

*please forgive my non-pedicure swollen feet* Problem here is it my Mom had to push, pull, squeeze my feet into these. We still weren’t able to zip up the back. Now, I’ve had difficult shoes in the past, anything for fashion, but if I can’t get into them now, what will my feet be like in 2 more months? I do love them and my dress will cover them so they barely peek out. Gah!

So I saw this incredible wedding today and now I want to steal this idea for our shower. Due to the addition of the baby bottle game in our budget, I was sadly forced to nix the pom poms from the shower. I really wanted to use them as a decor focal point in the lemon tree but now I am in love with the idea of making a *literal* family tree.

The idea would cost nothing, we borrow family photos from his Mom and scan them into our computers *something we have been saying we would do for years anyway* and after touching them up in Photoshop and adding each person’s relationship to Olivia, we would print them and hang them from the tree using our leftover ribbon from the wedding. Antz has already vetoed the idea because he says this is not a family reunion and it would be too much trouble. I think it’s adorable and make the guests feel special. After the shower we could give the photos to the guests for a keepsake. How can he not be on board? BOO!

Disappointment City

Yesterday Antz hurried home to pick me up because I wanted to go back to the thrift store to buy those amazing pink side tables. I was so excited about them because we needed something to hold the appetizers and the tables look so chic. Well, once we arrived at the store, no pink tables in sight. I was hoping the staff moved them to the back but alas, they were sold. It sucks so bad because Antz was there at 2pm and went back at 6pm. I wish he bought them the first time but he was like, you told me to find a frame, not tables. Waaaah! Oh well, we still need to find an ornate frame to turn into shabby chic chalkboard. I’m sure we’ll find something over the weekend. I have decided to nix the guess the diaper poop *candy bar* game because I can’t figure out how to heat up the candy bars and instead play the drink from the bottle game. I figure with only 4 choices of candy bars, there many be multiple winners, but the bottles cost more.

I don’t know what drink I’ll put in the bottles but I really don’t want to use beer *it smells*, maybe apple juice or root beer. Today I’m ordering the shower envelopes, plates, napkins and straws.

On a happier note, I finally got my printer stand and Antz put it together last night. Out of all the furniture building we’ve been doing this one seemed the most difficult. I think Antz exhaustion is catching up with him because last night he seemed like he lost all energy. The printer stand looked like it came with 2 drawers but it’s really one big drawer with a faux front.

These are the knobs we bought at Anthropologie. I like them 1,000 times better than the ones it came with. We still need to DIY it to match the bedroom furniture. Antz likes the white because it matches the white frames in the room but to me it sticks out in a bad way. So now I see how much storage the “drawer” provides, I have to keep my old storage cart to hold all my office supplies. Antz is so smart, he took off the wheels on the cart and now it fits under the desk. I am so happy we got a new printer especially since this one is wireless. Before I had to only use Antz computer in his office to print things and it was a pain. We still need to figure out how to scan photos but last night I was super tired while I was setting it up.

Best thing about planning events, food tasting!

Today after my wondeful session with Gilli I went to PF Changs in Pasadena to meet with the manager, Bill. He is totally a sweet guy, I gave him my new revised menu and everything looks fabulous. He made some crab wontons for me to sample and they were great but I’m not having them as appetizers since they get soggy quick.

I asked Antz to try to find a frame similar to this one so we can add a chalkboard and write our menu.

He couldn’t find one he liked at a thrift store but he did find these fierce tables.

How amazing are they? I want to use them for the appetizers. I went to Beverages & More to see if they carried Izze soda. They happened to have a case of 24 in grapefruit so I bought them. I also bought some Sofia White wine but I need another case of Izze. I’m contemplating which flavor to get and I’m leaning towards Clementine. Bev Mo’ had another case of pomergrante Izze but I don’t know how that would taste.

I need to order the straws and envelopes. Antz is going to set up the printer tonight and print a few sample invites to measure the size of the paper.

Sucks because you can’t pick your own color so I am crossing my fingers we get blue.

Nursery Progress *hint still very much in progress*

This evening Antz put up the curtain rod and the curtains. Back in February, his Mom hemmed the bottom of the curtains because they were way too long, we totally measured them to stop just at the baseboard. When she finished sewing them we held them up to the window and they seemed fine but now that Antz has the rod in place they still hit the floor. He had to move the position of the rod higher since they are so long. I wonder what happened with our measurements? Oh well, we can live with it. He said he wanted to show more of the window molding and when the curtains are closed they look hidden.

We still need to wash the outside windows and clean the floors but I am so happy with the curtains and the contrast of color.
Antz started working on the games for the shower and I LOVE how they came out. He is such a freaking genius. So creative and cohesive.

He’s working on an adorable custom font for the invitation addresses. I am so mega stoked!!

Cirque du Bebe Countdown

….7 weeks to go. I have already purchased my dress, hair accessories and hopefully in 2 weeks I’ll have my Sam Edelman sandals but what about the actual shower?! I transferred money from ING for shower supplies and favors. The transfer should happen by Monday so I can order the envelopes

Antz has to print the invitations, posters and all the games/wishes for bebe

He also has to make stickers for the namecards that will go on the take-out boxes and serve as placecards.

I have to order the ostrich feather centerpieces

The plates, napkins and utensils

The frames for the pregnancy portraits from Burke Decor

Oh and speaking of preggo portraits, Sarah Hoag emailed me this morning letting me know that she will be in LA April 19-25th. I booked Friday April 23rd from 11 am – 1 pm at  Topanga State Beach. She said she charges $250 for the session which included about 60 images. I thought I would have to pay a ton for image reprints but she said I can take them to any place (CVS) and have them printed. I am so excited! I need to find a great dress but no luck yet.

Playing the waiting game…

I am the next contestant on the waiting game! I’ve been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my packages since Saturday. I have 2 orders from the Gap *newborn clothes and my hospital pajamas*, 3 from Amazon *Flip camcorder, flip accessories and a memory card for our camera*, 1 from Target *the printer stand*, 1 from Nordstrom *Olivia’s christening gown* and 1 from Modern Nursery *crib bedding*. I am worried about the federal tax refund because it’s been 13 days since we submitted our returns, but maybe I’m just eager beaver since I have so much to finish on my long to-do list. I need to get on top of my bebe shower planning since April is next week and I need to send out the invitations by April 10th. When I was at Gilli’s she was telling me about a baby shower she went to that weekend. At the shower they played a name the baby celebrity  with photos of baby celebs. That made me have a light bulb moment, I need to provide photos of the celebrity babies on my quiz so our guests can figure who they are. So I’m going to print the children’s pictures and pin them to a foam board. I want to make it really cute.
I am seriously giddy right now, I just found a package on the porch and it’s addressed to Olivia!!!

It’s from her Godparents, Leslie & Stephen, they are so sweet to send it in her name. The gown is so beautiful, there’s embroidery and it’s almost as long as I am!

I need to find a nice box to keep it in. I also need to have her name embroidered on the bonnet. Where are the rest of my packages??!!! I took my car to the dealer for service this morning. My Mom is coming by after 2 so we’ll go pick it up and maybe go to Target.
