And….Losing!

That’s right, I am no longer winning! Malcolm came by today for the plumbing quote and crushed my new and improved bathroom dreams.

He informed us that we can’t repair the bathroom without repairing the pipes throughout the rest of the house *replacing the galvanized pipes and adding shut off valves and other fancy plumbing terms* I mean I don’t even have a quote yet and I know I can’t afford it. Even if we nixxed the new ceramic tile floor, new sink/vanity, new toilet, and reglazing the tub/showerwall *which Malcolm strongly advised against* it wouldn’t be half of the cost to repair the plumbing. The worst part is we have to replace our water heater like NOW!! We found an actual date on the heater and that guy was born is 1987 *I was ten years old when this water heater was installed!!!!*

*I was rad even then!!*

Michael Jackson got a case of the hothead during a Pepsi commercial back in ’87!!!!

Okay enough of the eighties flashbacks. So the suckiest news was, he can’t repair anything without repairing everything which means muy expensivo. So even if he were to replace the ancient water heater, it’s tied into the bathroom sink pipes so that must be replaced which mean breaking walls. MEGA LAME!!!

Another element we completely ignored during our inspection when we bought the place, nevermind that it takes 10 minutes to get warm *never hot* water in our house.

Yeah, that’s NASTY!! I need this fixed asap. I don’t know how it’s functioned for the last 20 years.

This bitch has the nerve to have a Superhero on it??!! Super Piece of Shit is more like it.
Now we have some decisions to make…
1. spend way more than my budget allows to get the plumbing done and end up left with an ugly bathroom and empty pockets?
2. Let the plumbing be, *I’ve lived with it for 5 years anyway* and pimp out the bathroom, new floor, new sink, new toilet, demo the pink wall hire someone to install subway tile on the showerwall and replace the pink tub?
3. Partial pimpage, tile the floor, new sink, new toilet, paint and new accessories *keep the budget under $500* and save until next year when we can do all the plumbing.
Well, option #3 is looking pretty obvious. I am going to get a second quote from my friend’s plumber but this house is a mess and I am not prepared to spend thousands to get the Beverly Hills facelift she needs. I’m more in the position to go down to Mexico and get the cheap hundred dollar Botox *it’s pretty but it’s temporary and may cause blindness*
So, I’m disappointed that I can’t get everything on my bathroom wishlist this year so I needed a pick-me-up. I happened to come across this hilarious blog The Bitchy Waiter and I haven’t stopped laughing. Aimee is a waiter and I hear daily horror/comedy stories about her customers shenanigans.
There is a bit of good FUCKING AWESOME news for the day. I can actually check something off my New Years Resolutions list…We paid off 88% of our credit card debt.
We’ll be completely debt free by November!!

Babies are sneaky…

This is by far one of my favorite movies. Aside from the obvious adorableness from Maya Rudolph *who was really preggers during the filming* and John Krasinski, it’s directored by *Kate Winslet’s ex hubby* Sam Mendes, has Maggie Gyllenhaal *crush* and Catherine O’ Hara *so funny* On top of this cake of radness is part of the film is set in *I want to go to there* Montreal!!

Here’s a snippet of what makes this movie so stellar

So my Mumsy stopped by on Saturday and we went to breakfast at Cindy’s *our fave local diner*

Then we went to Home Depot so my Mom could help us look for materials for our floor tile. She is loaning us her wet saw, so that’s saving some $$ already!! The guy in the tile dept was super nice and helped us procure everything we need. I would have bought it all then but Malcolm *the Plumber* is coming over on Tuesday to give us a repair quote and I want to make sure we are staying on budget. Antz said he’d rather hire someone to install the tile but I am gung-ho about DI-Ourselves *hopefully I won’t regret it later*. It sounds seemingly easy and I picked up these 2 books to read up on

So I was all set to find the hexagon tile sans the black *as seen in my mood board*
Until….I spied with my little eye…
You had me at $25.70 per box!!!

With all the tile *3 boxes, materials, grout, supplies* the total to do the floor will be $225 with tax
*Duh, WINNING!!!!*

We scoured Goddess Martha’s paint swatches and came up with these intriguing colors. Antz and my Mommy prefer a darker grey *we are using a natural grey grout* so Winter’s Day was the clear winner. Pure white will be the trim but we want to be certain it will match with the tub/wall reglazing.
We bought 2 squares of tile to sample at home. My only concern is what we’ll do with this hideous brass threshold strip?

Our cringeworthy laminate floor, I cannot wait until it’s gone!!
So last week Antz found this guy at Home Depot

The price is so right but the color is ALL wrong. The exact same sink/vanity combo in rich and yummy espresso is $198, Lame!

So we are considering painting the natural vanity and throwing on some fancy Anthropologie knobs and a minimalist faucet…?
When we put Winter’s Day on the wall with the lights on, it suddenly felt too dark for such a small space. I put all the greys I had up to the white trim and the blue canvas and we unamimously picked Driftwood grey as the new winner!!

We may paint this weekend but the weather has been on the verge of rain *it always seems to rain when we plan to paint* also we are going to a party at the Edison for our friend Carlos’s birthday and I don’t want to have paint all over me.Not sure if we want to be bathroomless this weekend. Either way, I am super excited about the makeover!
Sunday we did absolutely nothing. I took lazy Sunday to a new level, I watched HGTV, ate yummy Thai food *had it delivered* and vegged *I just realized it really shouldn’t be referred to as vegging out, that sounds to healthy* anyway, I vegged out on the couch all day.
Today Mr Mailman delivered my Gap order and I tried on everything with these adjectives floating around in my mind….
tight
lumpy
paunchy
Sigh!! It appears that I need to spend more time using the Wii Fit and less time on the couch, eh?
I adore my new clothes but they won’t be making their debut until I drop about 10 lbs.
I am still nerding out about my Librarian chic look!!!

Still waiting for these fabulous Seychelles to arrive and Thursday I’m going to pick up my boots at Nordstrom with Aimee. I heart SALES!!!

Well, time to box and hula hoop this blubber away. Ta-tah!

Playdate Funarama!!

I am trying to crank this out whilst *my fave word* Antz is making himself a snack and I have the Oscars on pause. Today Liv and I went to the Zimmer Children’s Jewish museum and met Aura and a few other Mummies for a playdate. Elina and Sofia were adorable as always. I attempted to make a Cat in the Hat, hat however Liv the Destroyer broke it several times, BOO!

Nom, nom, nom

Elina was so cute and Seuss-y

Everyone at the museum was super nice and the children were adorable!!

Playdate Mommies and our girls!
Liv LOVED the bouncy room *gotta make her a bouncy nook somewhere*
She tried her best to eat EVERYTHING she could get her hands on

Liv made friends with this 13 month cutie *Bonus, she’s from New York, I love it!!*

She fell in love with herself in the mirror

Oh, I am super fabulous!

Aura and Sofia *who is the mellowest, sweetest baby ever, like her Mommy*

Trapped!

We heart the Zimmer Children’s Jewish Museum. We had a lovely time, the place is super cute, can’t wait until our next playdate.

I took a ton of pics which I promise *pinkie swear* to upload as soon as we come back from Oscar afterparty hunting.

Okay, back on my laptop, we nixed the celeb hunting because 1. it’s tooo effing cold, brrr, 2. Antz and Olivia are both currently in snoresville and 3. I am warm, nestled in bed with my new pal electric blankie about to *prolly stay up all night* looking up lovely bathroom renos like this beauty!!

This is almost identical to how I want to makeover our bathroom!! Love these sconces!!!

Saturday rocked…
Wanna know why? Bed, Bath & Beyond gave us major discounts, that’s why!! We bought the Lancaster Floor Cabinet *on clearance marked down from $159.99 to $74.99*

Antz and I both love our new shower curtain and bath ensemble

Modern Reflections *sounds like a pretentious New Wave band, huh?* Some towels cause new towels rule and this fucking guy…..!!!!

Calm is exactly what I want in our bathroom, spa-like, relaxing and bright

I was all about keeping Maxwell & Harmony *painted by Anthony in 2002* in the newly remodeled bathroom but Antz says New room, new picture! I was jumping up and down when I saw it at BB & B *yah, I am that nerdy*

I set the budget for BB & B for $175 for the cabinet, new shower rings and the bathrug. We bought all that  PLUS, the canvas poster, matching hand towels, and my electric blankie!! I have seriously got a Linus complex now.  The total was $219.78 but after Antz sister’s employee discount it was $174.92. Me likey!!

After all that wheelin’ and dealin’ we drove up the mountain *literally* and drove into a teeny snow flurry. I filmed from the warm comforts of my car but it was surreal, we saw cars blanketed with snow in Burbank!!

So back to today. I got home from the Mommy playdate *which was fabulous, thanks Aura!!* to find this

Okay, this is why I married Anthony. He does shit like this! I was so anxious to put together the new stuff from Bed, Bath & Beyond but I knew we had to paint, replaster the tub and install the new tile floor before we add the new stuff. Now that he has kicked it up a notch, priming the bathroom so we can go shopping for paint. We are thinking of Martha Stewart in a light grey. I am super stoked to call Malcolm and get his ass over here to fix the plumbing.

So in Memoriam….The neon green bathroom

I’m still keeping my Johnathan Adler Seven Deadly Sins *I have committed at least 5 of them, I’ll let you guess which* shower curtain because it’s feeeeeeirce!

Max & Harmony will have to find another home but it still is one of my most favorite painting by the talented and handsome hubby!
FYI: 6 of my picks won *yay, Christian Bale with your skinny, crackheadedness and fucked up ginger beard*, I should have gone to the bookies *not like I know the slightest thing about bookies but they say it alot in Casino*
Nights!

Renovation Reality

Yesterday we checked out the Mission West Tile & Kitchen showroom. To quote Ricky Ricardo “Aye, yi yi, yi!” We expected to slip in, peek at the price tag *throw up in our mouth a little* steal some pics and head to Lowes to find a cheap replica. Didn’t pan out quite like that. We walked in to be greeted by Kathy *imagine a younger, glasses-free version of Diane Keaton in any of her recent rom-coms*

this chick was too chic for us. It didn’t help that I dressed like a teenager who doesn’t own a brush. So, she gave us the Pretty Woman Rodeo Drive salewoman look when we told her we were shopping for fixtures for our 20’s Craftsman. Luckily she seemed to dig that we owned a Craftsman home so she began to print faucets, showerheads and vanities for what she determined was “our budget”. Funny how she didn’t ask us our budget until I showed interest in a fabulous sink faucet. When I told her we wanted to spend 3 grand, she told me that the faucet was half our budget. Nothing had a price on it but you could assume everything was in the 4 digit realm. As beautiful as the products were, even if I had the cash to spend, I couldn’t justify spending that much for a lousy sink or tile floors.

This is the tile I want to put in our bathroom *although it does photograph dark, boo* but we’ll be purchasing our tile from Home Depot for $39 per case *opposed to $39 per tile from this place*

I am in love with this wall mounted faucet. I also love this backsplash *however I have to stay neutral for resale*
I was too chicken to get anymore pictures but Kathy gave me a ton of brochures *which of course don’t have any prices* I need to get Malcolm over here to give me a quote for the plumbing but my friend Mia has a good plumber so maybe I’ll have him give us a quote too. I am hoping to start the work in March but I’d like Antz to take time off work.
I forgot to mention that while we were out with Evelyn & Dion on Sunday we stopped at a fabric shop and bought some felt in hot pink and yellow. I have been wanting to sew some couch cushions since I saw an article about them in Readymade but I am second guessing the color choices. I was thinking of creating these

How cute are these? I need to buy more felt and thread. So many projects coming up…Bathroom, new dining table, and veggie garden. This weekend we discovered that Liv has outgrown her See Kai Run red shoes, so I bought these this morning *both on sale, yay me!*

I forgot to mention Saturday morning my services were enlisted to help Story pick something to wear to her friend’s upcoming wedding in San Francisco in March. Of course I tried my best to put her in the tightest Kim Kardassian *I know that’s a typo but it’s appropriate* dress. I LOVE her in this outfit, those Calvin Klein peeptoes are major but they didn’t have them in her size *or mine, boo*
My favorite, she looks HOT!!

This dress was cute but not fancy enough for a wedding

Va-va-voom!! Story liked this sexy number I picked! Winner 🙂

The winning heels, I loved playing Project Runway with her, she will look mega fierce!!

Three day weekend, Whoo hoo!

There’s nothing I love more than having a 3 day weekend with my lovelies. So far we haven’t done much but today was super fun. We picked up our niece and nephew, Evelyn & Dion and we went to the Beverly Hills farmers market *where they are celebs among the vendors* I pigged out on kettle korn and we had roach coach carne asada tacos *a Highland Park delicacy*. Then we got competitive playing Scattegories and Trivia Pursuit all night.

I really love hanging out with them. They are such fun and so smart. I am so conflicted about them leaving for Paraguay in May. I really want them to go, travel to a foreign land, enjoy the life of adventure together but for my own selfish reasons I don’t want them to miss out on the next 3 years of Liv’s life. Oh well, she will skype, and correspond with them often. I am crossing my fingers we may even visit them but honestly I wouldn’t last a day without American food and modern conveniences *hello, I’m high maintenance*

So tomorrow we are doing our preliminary shopping for our bathroom remodel. I want to go to tile stores, find a company to replaster our tub and showerwall and get our plumber Malcolm, to give us a serious quote for repairing our plumbing *he always says I’ll give you a definite number next time but never does* It would also be rad to replace our water heater *which is older than dirt* and find a good, affordable electrician to repair our floodlight and the light in Liv/Antz closet.

I’ll post my finding tomorrow.

Nighty Night!

Cleaning up our Act!

As I mentioned Saturday night, we needed to clean our messy cave. That is precisely what we did Sunday morning/afternoon. I mean, deep clean, moved furniture, mopped, dusted, took everything off the shelves, went to war with the dust bunnies…

I found dust bunnies as big as Olivia under her crib, GRODY!!

I organized and de-cluttered her dresser, she had tons of clothes and accessories she no longer fits

Antz made this adorable little Brobee for her door

All sparkly and clean, too bad there is no smell-a-vision because it smells so yummy in there!
Antz picked up this guy at a Thrift shop on Friday, I wasn’t feeling it at all but I don’t have the crafty insight that he has. He has a total 6th sense when it comes to trash-to-treasure. I was complaining about not having a desk of my own and for $12.50 he went from this…
to this…

LOVE IT!! The color is fantastic, the Anthropologie knob we picked up on Saturday and the matching seat cushion *and chair we weren’t using* He even painted a matching frame for me to use once we get our pics from Disneyland next month
I’ll say it again, my husband is a GENIUS!! Somebody give him a HGTV show!

Now I’m hanging out in the living room more often instead of balancing my laptop in our bedroom. As soon as we finished cleaning and got all spiffy to go to Target *to check out the new Splendid Baby line* my Mommy stopped by. We took her next door to show her the neighbors house *there was an open house* and we found out that they dropped the price from $469k to $399k, short sale 🙁 BOO! That makes me sad but seeing the condition they left their house sort of gives me hope. They basically moved and didn’t clean, paint or make any repairs. The house is similar to ours in square footage and amenities
although they had their foundation repaired and they rebuilt their fireplace, they don’t have as much charm.
The entire house has popcorn ceilings *obviously disguising cracks*
I do like the dining room built ins and they have orginal windows like ours and Tiffany light fixtures.
the kitchen is smaller than ours.
They do have a lovely tiered landscaped backyard and a screened porch with a bathroom in their over the garage guest house. They also left their fridge, stove and this play set with the house.
I guess it’s what I expected in this market, most houses in this area are listed in the $250’s YIKES!! Their realtor is coming over this Sunday to assess our place and give us some advice on where to put our money. She is a well-known agent in this neighborhood so it would be amazing to hear what she thinks of the place.  After the open house, we went to Fresh & Easy and picked up some dinner. Antz cooked while my Mommy and I played with Liv. Antz made a yummy dinner and my Mommy showed us a documentary she had been working on for months. I am super proud of her, it looked really professional and the music she created sounded rad!

Happily, Antz had Monday off so we went to lunch with Story. Chris had to work so we picked him and some of his co-workers up and we went to this cute place called Grub.

The food was really yummy, and we had a great time until Liv started trying to eat the plants! We missed out on the farmers market so we picked up Spuzz and our friend Dave came over our house with his doggie, Bam Bam. We hung out in the backyard with the dogs *Max was super happy to have a dogdate* and the weather was beautiful. After Story & Dave left, we went to Atwater Village to sign up for the World Citizen dance class *but it was full so we have to wait until March* it’s actually better because Liv will be old enough to take the Scruffin’ Rock class. We took a lovely evening stroll around Atwater and picked up dinner. I feel terrible that I haven’t used the Wii Fit since Friday but I have definitely been active.

It’s begining to look a lot like New Years!

Christmas was lovely, our little girl destroyed the wrapping paper and was only slightly amused with her presents.

She really enjoyed eating her phone

We went to Aimee’s house to hang out and a torriental storm came from nowhere. We ordered some gross thai food *Boo* We drove past the Venice Canals but it was too rainy to enjoy the houses.

Yesterday we returned from visiting my Mommy and Antz & I discussed my resolutions *and my likeihood of achieving them* I feel very motivated and positive about them all with the exception of Francais!! I have some sort of mental block that will not allow me to retain *and correctly pronounce* le French. I have an app I downloaded on my iphone and I listen to the words but I can’t pick up the accent. I also have a Nintendo DS game but I am much better at written French than spoken. I seem to be the only one who thinks I’ll learn using Rosetta Stone. I even made about 50 flash cards a year ago but I have to find them….sigh! Well, we spent the past 3 day at my Mom’s and I did something that is so random yet amazing! I cooked! I not only cooked but I cooked a complicated recipe and it was super yummy. Antz couldn’t get over how delicious it turned out.

Lizzie’s Louisiana Gumbo
It’s funny because this was not only my first time cooking gumbo, but also my first time eating it. The roux was pretty tricky and I cooked it much longer than 30 minutes as the recipe stated but it somehow turned out perfecto.

We had a rad time at my Mom’s, we played Scattergories *hilarious* and I got to sit by the fire *makes me wish our fireplace worked* Early Tuesday morning guess what woke me up?? An owl!! It was hooting right outside our window. It was too dark to see it but that’s pretty gnarly. We went to Target *I like the one by my Mom’s house* and I was looking for some good deals on clearance Christmas decor but I didn’t find anything. It wasn’t too cold in Apple Valley but it is supposed to snow so much today that the freeway to get to there will be closed. I did take this lovely shot on the drive.

All the surrounding mountain peaks were covered in snow. I really wanted to drive to Lake Arrowhead *40 minutes from my Moms* but Antz needed to have snow tires and Liv didn’t have any super warm clothes and shoes *Gah, I must buy her Uggs!!* When we came home yesterday I did some cleaning but I need to take apart all the kitchen cabinets, the laundry nook, linen closet and my closet and organize, donate and clear out all our clutter. I have a big problem with saving boxes but we sell so much of our stuff that I like to have the original box, but they take up so much space. I wanted to start a project while Antz is off but painting or sanding the cabinets may have to wait until March when it’s not rainy. I started a bathroom mood board but it isn’t finished yet *still searching for new paint*

I was pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive the floor tile is. I am pretty confident that we can install it ourselves but I’ll have to rent a wet saw for cutting. My total bathroom budget is under $5k. We should be starting in March because we have to clear out the garage first so we have space for storing the tools. I feel so Design on a Dime!!
Our lovely ball of sunshine is 29 weeks
I couldn’t get one pic without her chewing her shoe
I must get dressed *Lizzie BE ON TIME!!* we are meeting my friend Aura at the Long Beach Aquarium today!!

New Years Shmeshalutions 2011!!!

Nothing sucks more than making a bunch empty promises to yourself on January 1st *only to pig out by January 15th*, stop going to the gym by January 29th *because it’s too cold to work out* and stop saving by February 1st *you were going to save when you got your tax refund, but you needed that new purse, shoes, jeans, etc… Don’t give me that look, we are ALL guilty of it!!

So I refuse to set myself up for failure this year. I want to promote a new year, a new attitude *finger snap* new thinking, new living! Sounds good right? Herein lies the rub, I am an excellent starter. If there was an award for being motivated, starting off with enthusiasm and being organized and proactive, I win that bitch!! But, I quickly lose interest, energy and will-power so I move on to the next big scheme. Prime example, Mix Tape Fridays, 30 days of Thanks *what the hell happened to them?* How do I conquer this vicious cycle?? Well, I am asking you, lovelies, to help gently nudge, subtly remind and kick my ass if I fall of the wagon!! I am going to keep my goals realistic, and sensible, just kidding, I just need any and everything I do must contribute to getting into my Dream Home by 2014 *so I can shut up about it already!!* Deep breathe, let’s begin….

1. Here’s the most obvious one…I must stop eating like a meth-tweaker!! I resolve to stop ordering anything in Large portions. Large food = Large Liz!! Start eating fruits and veggies *gag, I know* and I will only drink water Monday through Friday. Please give me lemonade on weekends. I also have to kick my cookies & cream chocolate bars addiction. I know how wrong it is on so many levels and that fact that I looked smaller when I was preggers speaks volumes!! I really have to kick start my fitness regime *like going from zero fitness to moving my lazy blob* Weekly walks *in Atwater Village, yay!* volleyball of course, hikes on weekends, start Rock toddler classes at HeartBeat House and get back to using my Wii Fit, which Antz loves to remind me how I had to have it and I never use it.

SO NOT CUTE!!!

2. Manage my money like I’m Oprah *meaning, think rich, save rich!* If I stop spending $68 on frames and Hello Kitty MAC eyeshadows *that I never wear* I would have a down payment by the time Olivia starts kindergarten in 2014. I need to send a cyborg into the future to stop me from my poor spending habits and shake myself when I make poor financial decisions *$337 to see a horse show, WTF??!!* I know it’s as likely as Lindsay Lohan to get clean and sober, but all I need to do to give myself an intervention is look across the street at those loud, trash, ignorant fucktards!! Those bastards even ruined my rainbow yesterday

eye sore of a satellite on top of their crack house

3. I would like to eliminate all my plastic debt by next Christmas. Yep, I said it here, get off the crack/plastic by 12/25/2011 I should have a $0 balance. It’s time for me to put my money where my mouth is. I really, really want to move to Atwater Village *duh, you never shut up about it* and if I want my Dream house, I need to be ready when the opportunity presents itself. I can do anything I put my mind to *I met Björk, won the Price is Right, had a bebe, married the man of dreams, I even went to London and Paris with $200* so selling this house and buying a new one shouldn’t be that difficult. I would like to invest any profits from our Etsy shop into stocks. Savings accounts and CDs are a joke *I’m earning like 1% for every $1,000 we have in savings* and Money magazine tells rich people to invest in stocks so I need to start behaving like rich folks so *lifts pinky finger* Keep my eye on the prize!!

4. STOP THE PROCRASTINATION!! Now, generally, I am organized, I have never been guilty of not planning ahead and I consider myself as thoughtful. It’s all lies! I need a vast improvement in so many areas. I am so last minute, I never call people back, totally forget *or apply a DADT policy* for my friend’s birthdays, appointments, I stay up all night trying to come up with a last second gift and I will stand for it no longer. In the year 2011…I shall have presents, not only ahead of time but wrapped beautifully *no longer re-using old gift bags* or giving gift cards to anyone *how impersonal, I may as well write them a check for $20, Grandma-style* I will think of others when I’m in a cute store and instead of just thinking….so and so would like that. I will actually follow through and buy nice things for my amazingly rad friends and family. I will also stop flaking on plans. I’m not as guilty as Antz is on this one but I’ve got a serious issue with being on-time. I have a mental defect that somehow prevents me from getting showered, hair/makeup and fully dressed BEFORE I need to leave the house. I know it takes me over an hour to get decent, and yet I fuck around until 15 minutes before we have to leave and then I’m all grouchy because Antz is rushing me. I also end up returning to the house *often more than once* because I forgot something *usually sunglasses, coupons, my wallet, my phone, Liv’s coat, etc.* Stop the insanity!! I resolve to manage my time much better!!

5. Fix this house so we can sell the hell out of here!! I could have all the money *Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton & Snookie {our society can stoop no lower} have *tell me again why they have money when they are obviously lacking brains* and still be stuck with this house. It’s a cute house, has great curb appeal *if you turn a blind eye to the dungeon across the street* but we need to make some serious improvements. I need to stop going for the cosmetic changes and get some big issues resolved *I’m talking plumbing, paint the hallway, remove the popcorn in the hallway and living room, replace broken electrical outlets, replace our *Prehistoric* water heater, fix the broken light in Liv/Antz closet and the floodlight on the front deck, either replace or repair the back door, remodel the garage, kitchen and bathroom* basically get this house Designed to Sell. I could sell, donate and trash about 40% of our belongings and not really miss anything. With such small footage, I need to create the illusion of large, efficient space. If we took as much time, money and effort as we did in Olivia’s nursery, our house would be majorly awesome, I wouldn’t want to move. I would love to invite our realtor, Debora over to get her professional assessment of where we should spend our money and how we can market our house for sale. The last time I spoke to her, she told me to wait until the market stabilizes. Our neighbors on our right side are listing their house in February and I am soo anxious to see how quickly their house sells and for how much. They do have an advantage because they just spent $100k getting their foundation repaired, brand new chimney and retaining wall and they have a guest house over their garage which gives them much more value than our house. The good news for us is if they sell for over $500k that will increase the neighborhood’s value. I really would like to apply the countless hours of HGTV and DIY network I have been watching and actually do a 48 hour renovation. I desperately want to redo our bathroom floors and refinish our kitchen cabinets *both projects should be under $500* Time to get this house in Angelina Jolie shape *without the husband-stealing and army of minority children*

*Sand/paint cabinets white, new knobs, new backsplash and NEW PLUMBING!!*

Hexagon tile floors, new pedestral sink, new storage cabinet, new paint and replaster the tub/shower walls

6. LEARN FRENCH!! If I had a dollar for every New Year’s resolution I have vowed to learn French I’d have $10 *which I would spend on hair bows, wait!! that’s old Lizzie talking, I would invest it into a blue chip stock* This must be the year that I can say more than Bonjour or Merci. I have been going on and on about sending Olivia to a French speaking school, what kind of looney am I to send our kid to a school to learn a language that when she comes home she wouldn’t have anyone to speak to with? *EYE ROLL* I have bought books, iphone apps, computer programs, and only used them once. I am going to have a big craigslist sale *purge my closet, get rid of my beauty school textbooks, once and for all, and sell all my preggo stuff I no longer need {Liz, you are a HOARDER!!} and buy Rosetta Stone {well, maybe go halfsies with Aimee} and learn French once and for all, Sacre Bleu!!! *I only know that from Pepé Le Pew {who is obviously based on Hugh Hefner} on Looney Tunes*

So there it is dear friends, short and sweet. It’s all about quality not quantity. I am stoked to get this list knocked out. See how I begin with gusto, check in on me in April. Who’s taking bets?
New Years in Las Vegas 2005

It’s the most wonderful time…

Wow, Christmas certainly came early. Antz brought home a sack full of presents so we couldn’t help but rip them open immediately. Liv was awesome at tearing *and eating* the wrapping paper, it was hilarious, she loved the paper more than the actual presents. Our friends are so super rad, Story & Chris gave Liv an adorable onesie *I need to take pics* Dave went overboard and bought us all gifts; Liv got the sweetest Raggedy Anne doll

He also got her a cute bear nightlight which is perfect for her nursery *it’s bright enough to give her a nightly feeding but ambient so she can sleep* and some cute army men for Antz. We got some yummy chocolate  from Warren & Kim and Antz got Scott Pilgrim vs the World *just what he/I wanted* from his Secret Santa. Turns out my cookies were a mega hit! So Antz was all ready to head out to meet friends to see Tron when he hit a few snags, first the theater they planned to see it at didn’t have any 3-D showings until 10:30 and he didn’t want to go out that late, so they tried to find a 3-D showing at another theater that was earlier and it turned out to be practically sold out *only seats available in the first 3 rows* so he didn’t go out. I was a wee bit happy since he was able to put together the highchair just in time for me to give Liv her dinner.

Soooo much better than holding her in my lap while I juggle the bowl and try to keep her fingers out of her mouth. The boon bowl has suction on the bottom that won’t budge while I feed her *so awesome*

I love this highchair, it’s sleek and modern, sturdy and inescapable! It has hidden wheels so we can move it around easily. It’s definitely worth the price, I’ll move it to the kitchen once we get our new dining table in  March *fingers crossed for a fat tax refund!!* These are my next home projects for the Spring.
There are a couple of items I still need to buy for Liv. I mentioned to Dr. Wang that we want to get Liv a walker but she suggested an activity walker because the kind I was thinking of buying have been known to flip over *I didn’t love the one I had in my shopping cart but I was trying to stay under $50*
I found this rad walker on Amazon for only $47.99 *free shipping/no tax* so it’s a much better purchase!

I also need to get her convertible car seat sometime in January. Liv is outgrowing her infant car seat months ahead of time but that’s what happens when you have a tall bebe. Maybe in another month, this Clek Booster seat will have gone down in price. It’s regularly priced at $299 but it’s $273.31 on Amazon so maybe I will get it for about $250.

So Saturday was gloomy, cold and rainy and to make things worse I am fighting a cold *and losing the battle*. I’ve got a sore throat, sneezy, coughing, aching feeling majorly gross but I was still excited because like I said before it was a Big Day. I don’t know how I was able to keep my big mouth shut but we were going to a surprise party for my awesome friend’s Kim & Warren. I am not sure how to describe it so here’s what we were doing…The Accomplice here’s some videos. It’s similar to Michael Douglas movie The Game and I was super stoked to play *I adore all things pop culture and everyone knows I’m the Queen of Tabloids*. We had a group of 10 of us and Antz and I went through a nightmare of finding a babysitter *Weird because EVERYONE has been joking with us that we never call to ask them to babysit, yet when we did call, noone seemed to be available* We finally got Leslie to babysit and an hour before we were going to take Liv to Leslie’s house wouldn’t you know we got a call from Warren saying the game was cancelled due to the stupid rain. Mind you, we live in LA, it was raining consistently but nothing torrential or freezing. BOO! Since Liv was all dressed up we still went to visit Leslie & Stephen. Liv was super Miss Chatterbox and trying to crawl on Les’s rug *not quite but she was moving around*. Liv opened her Christmas gift from them and check it out….!!

My reaction is classic, I am such a dork!!

I am so glad I didn’t buy these a month ago, she still needs her narrow little feet to grow but I’m sure she’ll be rocking these in a month! After visiting her Godparents, we decided despite the rain we would go for a drive. With no destination in mind, we ended up in the Valley and I found the Woodland Hills Christmas Cane Lane so we showed Liv all the lights/decorated houses. It was very impressive *massive homes with thousands of lights but I saw a special about this neighborhood on HGTV and I was disappointed that every house on the block didn’t have lights. Liv really liked it, she was squealing and her eyes were huge. We got home and I still felt like crap so I vegged out on the couch and Antz worked in his office. I am trying to come up with some loose plans for the week of Christmas *Antz is off until New Years* so I would love to take Liv to the Long Beach Aquarium, maybe go out to my Mom’s for a weekend *hoping for snow*, take a road trip up north *Big Sur or Monterrey* and meet our new friend from Disneyland, Aura *if she hasn’t gone into labor yet* I’m so looking forward to the new year. I am working on my list of resolutions and planning every detail of Olivia’s first birthday.

Holidays Hullabaloo

So it turns out that we are going to Thanksgiving dinner at Antz Mom’s house after all. This is good news since last year the food was excellent, I totally pigged out and blamed it on pregnancy

Starting with Me & Antz going clockwise; Antz Mommy, Maria, Antz sister, Debra, Antz Aunt Marjorie, Antz sister, Reva, Antz *our favorites* niece & nephew, Evelyn & Dion, Antz niece *sadly she got cut off* Schanelle, Antz Aunt Barbara, Antz sister, Clinnie and Antz Uncle, Richard.

Not sure what excuse I can use this year to eat everything in sight, but at least we are bringing food. I’m making pumpkin cupcakes and Antz is making his famous deviled eggs. I am trying to convince him we need this egg platter

I am so stoked for Liv to wear her new pretty dress!! After dinner, we are heading over to Aimee’s Mom’s house for dessert. Antz hasn’t seen Aimee’s family for at least 5 years so it will be a bit of a reunion.

I’ve been pretty boring this week. Last night we had a date at Afloat Sushi again. We LOVE that place. We tried to keep it under 12 plates but we each had 7 plates. Antz cannot resist the dynamite roll *California roll with eel on top* So I have decided to go ahead and do some Black Friday shopping *online of course* but I definitely held back my shopping impulse since I have my eye on the prize to *SELL, SELL, SELL* I am having one of those epiphanies that I had when I was planning the bebe shower. I could cut out all frivolous spending, re-prioritze our budget and cancel our trip to London in 2012 *yeah right* so we could put our house on the market but I am once again crying that same tune *the Lizzie, Woe is me Blues*. I can’t bear the idea of not having fun and having to deal with reality of *boring adult stuff* later. I know moving to Atwater Village is #1 but I don’t see us being about to sell in this lame economy/housing market. I can’t wait it out forever, either, the house is constantly needing repairs and we are outgrowing the space as Liv is growing. I will definitely see how *quickly and how much* our neighbors house sells in February and hopefully it will give us a better plan on selling ours. At least I have my amazing real estate agent Debora. I trust her completely and she will be able to advise us. I just have to make all the repairs and get the house ready for open houses before I call her. I really think spring of 2013 would be a good time to list the house *hopefully by then the market will have improved*. It gives us time to get the plumbing repaired, give the trim of the house a fresh coat, maybe remove the popcorn ceiling in the hallway and living room and remodel the kitchen and bathroom. Why does it always come down to sacrificing something I’ve had my heart set on for years? The worst part is I am starting to listen to Antz logic, that a trip to Europe when Liv is so young may not be worth the expense. He even thinks we should go right after the Olympics when everything is less expensive. I could totally remodel the kitchen and bathroom with the amount I plan to spend for the Olympics. BOO!! *major eye roll* I do not want to give up my dream trip *or postpone it* I am totally bratting out, folding my arms, stomping my foot and pouting!!
